        • Oh, wow! They are all fabulous. I love donkeys so much. May I ask how long you have been painting with watercolor? I’ve been at it about 1.5 years. I mostly paint loose flowers. I’ve definitely improved even though I don’t paint more than once or twice a week but I’m not happy with my progress. I know that means I need to paint more. How long does it take for you to do a painting like one of these? Can you tell I love your work?

          • Okay thank you to start with. I’ve always done Watercolor, but I took my first formal lessons in 1982, and then I became allergic to literally everything..it was a long road back and I ended up doing a lot of liquid acrylics in the 1990s but those windows closed and it wasn’t until after a health crisis in 2009 that I found my way back to watercolor ..I’d gone through chemo and it shut down my immune response, so when I wanted to paint my little granddaughters a painting from Gramma I was able to without a reaction. Afterwards I didn’t stop painting.
A donkey painting from the drawings to the end of the painting can take from 3 to 5 days, and that holds true for most pieces. Of course I only work about 4 or so hours a day. Most of my painting occures in the fall , winter and spring months, the summer is gardening time. In the fall I have been fortunate to be able to show my work.
The donkeys have been a labor of love. We have a rescue near us and I’ve gotten to know these sweet creatures. All of the paintings were done so I could have prints made for the rescue to use as a fund raiser. Covid kinda changed things up, but it will happen.. 00000IMG_00000_BURST20200621114930566_COVER
