Charlie O'Shields wrote a new post, Watching The Clock 2 weeks, 3 days ago
For our prompt of “Watch” today, I made a little sketch of a mouse checking the time. It really never seems like there’s enough time in the day. No matter how much I think I’ll accomplish, the day is already
-
Charlie and here I thought you walk every day and suddenly you are meeting people you never met before. Happy happy on the new book in progress, at least in thinking about it for now.
-
Hehe! I do walk every day, but I don’t usually stop to chat. Elliott insists on stopping. And yes! Thinking about a new book is at least a start! 😉 💕
-
-
One of my neighbors has one of those remote-controlled boats, and is running it on the lake. The sun is shining, the sky is blue with gorgeous marshmallows clouds, and I’ve spent far too long just watching instead of getting things done. But I can’t consider it time wasted because I always feel so refreshed after just drifting along with the world rather than thinking or doing. I think that’s something we do too little of in modern life. Whether it’s just watching or painting or meditating – we need to tune out, and tune in to the flow of life.
-
Indeed! I think there’s so much reward in just being present and enjoying the moments that come to us rather than trying to invent new ones! 😉 💕
-
-
Adorable painting, Charlie! You perfectly captured that “where did the time go” look. All anyone has to do is pick up a paintbrush and time just disappears…in a good way. .Even if I only have 15 minutes to paint something I can get totally lost in that 15 minutes…the only thing that exists is the brush, paint and paper. Totally therapeutic.
-
Thanks so much, Mary! 😃💕 And yes! Even 15 minutes with a paintbrush is soooo therapeutic!
-
-
So cute! And yes, time, it just keeps a ticking as we blink. 😂 I love the little mouse, and your watch is so cool!!
-
Thanks so much, Lulu!! 😃💕
-
-
Yes, flow is what it is all about and treasured moments are never ever a waste as we are always learning something. I think everyone moves too fast as well Sandra. I love the thought of each hour, each day, each season being a new adventure and that is how I try to look at it. I try never to ‘plan’ anymore because we all know what happens to plans! It happens to us all ;). So better to wake up like Elliot – I wonder what I will do today, what magical being will I meet, what new fun thing is around the corner and what will I learn. How delightful right?!? Every single thing can be ‘new’ every day, so I try not to watch time like the mouse. But I absolutely love your little mouse checking out the watch :)!!
-
Thanks so much, Zoie! 😃💕 And yes! It’s way more fun to let the day unfold and invent itself before our eyes. That way, each day is definitely an adventure!
-
-
Charming, as always!
-
Thanks so much, Sally! 😃💕
-
-
Wonderful painting, Charlie. It’s what what they say, the older you get the quicker the days fly by.
-
Thanks so much, Gary! 😃💕 So true! I feel like time keeps speeding up!

Thanks so much, mi amiga! 😃💕 I know you miss your little Gordo, and I hope you allow another little furry friend into your life one day. 😉 You sound like a wonderful pet mama! hehe And you ARE doing so much better, so that’s a wonderful thing indeed! I don’t think we actually “lose” time if we’re spending it with love and hope in our hearts. There’s so much to enjoy in the world that just being present is time well spent. Much love to you my friend!
-
Thanks so much, Mugdha! 😃💕 Aww your change in plans sounds divine! I do love the prospect of each new day. It’s almost never what I expected, but if I just let myself go, my Inner Child has a blast with whatever comes his way! Much love to you!!

Brilliant. How do ypu get the glassy look in the eyes Sandra?

Thank you, Gary! Eyes are translucent so light passes through. The white is where light enters. Following the direction of the light, the eye will be lighter where the light exits. They survived and are now flying about the garden. My own Mom passed away almost three years ago, but well I remember all the times she came to my rescue, and kept me warm and healthy when the world seemed stormy. This is so beautiful, Sandra!!! When we lived in NY we had so many hummingbirds in the summer…probably had something to do with living on the edge of the woods. I’ve seen exactly one hummingbird in our yard since moving to FL 25 years ago. Some things about NY I really miss.
-
My brother seems to have quite a few hummingbirds at his place. Probably because he’s still surrounded by orange groves, though most are abandoned.
-
-
Beautiful, and what a great subject. Thanks to your husband for trying to protect the babies. We once had a hummer nest in our front yard in a N.Z. tea tree that was fairly low and I could watch the goings on from the house. The nest was exactly as you described with lichens all over it. When the birds fledged and were barely on their own, I…[Read more]

That is true. I’ve become more wary of any claims, even where items are certified to be one thing or another. Pigments may be toxic in many ways. Some are safe to handle, but you don’t want to breath in the unprocessed powder, or ingest the paint. Wording in claims may be legal, but convey a false impression.
I think it’s best to assume a…[Read more]

Scientists accidentally discovered that the platypus was bioluminescent a few years ago. Curious, they began looking for more glowy mammals. Most of the research so far has been done in Australia, as the animals identified show - wombats, tasmanian devils, springhares, Australian opossums, flying foxes, microbats, and echidnas. Many birds have beaks, talons and eyes that glow. More are being added to the list as time goes on. For our prompt of “Bark” today, I thought of both a dog and trees at the same time so I ended up with a little sketch of my puppy Elliott holding a tree branch. He’s growing up quickly, though it’s still anyone’s
-
He is adorable! Great rendering of the little guy.
-
Thanks so much, Sally! 😃💕
-
-
This is adorable and Elliott gets cuter with every post. I had a similar idea for the prompt but since my animal models are three felines I was fairly certain that if I suggested that any of them go fetch a stick (with bark) I would get a trio of eye rolls 😊. Enjoy your week!!!
-
Thanks so much, Mary! 😃💕 Yeah… I don’t felines are much for fetching sticks… or at least bringing them back to you if they do! lol Have a fabulous week!
-
-
What a great capture of a proud puppy! You can just see the look in his eyes, “How about this Dad?”.
-
Thanks so much, Laura! 😃💕 I didn’t have a pic of that exact moment so I had to recreate it from several references. Glad you enjoyed this!
-
-
Elliot has certainly grown in four weeks. He looks like he’s doubled in size. The ears seem to be in constant flux. Will they stand up? Will they lay down? Will they flop over? You may not know for months. One thing is for sure Elliot seems to be a “stick man.” My Diana is a “ball girl.” Freyja seems to go for plushies.
-
He’s growing up so fast! 😃💕 And those ears! They are a complete mystery. No idea what will happen until his body is done figuring itself out. He also loves balls and plushies as well, but sticks are a definite fave!
-
-
You’re having a blast, Charlie! You go man!
-
Hehe! Thanks so much! 😃💕 Elliott certainly keeps like a lot more interesting and fun!
-
-
I was just reading about a dog that has been taught to press buttons that speak words like Outside, Eat, Yes, No, Mad, Happy and his owner’s names. He was shown glaring at his Mom, and hitting Mad, Eat when she’d forgot his usual snack. He can make up to five word sentences. After reading today’s ramble, I wonder if they’ve thought about words for my branch is biggest!
-
Oh yeah! I saw that! It’s so cool! 😃💕 I think Elliott could actually be taught to do that. Not sure either Philippe and I have the time, but he’s definitely smart enough to do it!
-
-
Great doodle Charlie.
-
Thanks so much, Gary! 😃💕
-
-
Oh my gosh, this is so adorable! I love this! I can feel the playful sass! Puppies, awe I love that energy.
Btw, I had a dog named Elliot, he’s long left me, but I now have an Ellie. .-
Thanks so much, Lulu! 😃💕 That’s wonderful you had a dog named that… and now an Ellie. Yeah, we went with Elliott with two “t’s” because Philippe liked the visual symmetry better. hehe
-
-
Wonderful Charlie
-
Thanks so much, Brenda! 😃💕
-
-
Thanks so much, Mari! 😃💕 That’s wonderful you’ve passed one year with a awesome furry companion. Awesome on the therapy dog certification! Elliott is growing up fast and already pretty well-mannered. But, it takes a lot of work to keep his smart little mind occupied. hehe
-
Hola, mi amiga! Muchas gracias! 😃💕 Aww I love hearing about the eagles… what a fun thing to watch. I love baby animals of all kinds… so fun to watch them grow up. Cool fact on the female eagle for the national emblem… I didn’t know that. I did know about Ben Franklin and some days a turkey might fit this place better than others. 😉 hehe But, we’ve been having fun with Elliott. It’s been raining much of the week so he’s had to be indoors much more than he likes, but he’s pushing through the disappointment well. Have a fabulous week! Hugs!
-
Turkey? Oh. My. Gosh.
-
-
awww thanks so much, Susan! 😃💕 Yeah… I may not get quite as much done as I’d like, but I have a lot more fun living! 😉
-
Thanks so much, Mugdha! 😃💕 Oh my… I’ve always wished for a daydreaming career… hehe… I would definitely excel at that. As for bunnies and squirrels, Elliott didn’t seem to worry about them much at first, but now he wants to chase them. As he starts to chase them though, he’s easily distracted, so the chase doesn’t last very long. lol Much love to you, my friend!
-
Thanks so much, Gaina! 😃💕 Sounds like you’ve found a fun way to iron! Oh wow… I need to invite you over then! lol I’m not good at ironing so everything I wear looks a bit older than it should.
-
Thanks so much, Louise! 😃💕 We’re so happy to have Elliott. He’s a handful, but you’re right… we just couldn’t go very long without having a dog. It just doesn’t feel like home otherwise.
