I always have problems working from my own photos. I can’t seem to impart the beautiful colors the masters use. I do studies to learn but have difficulty translating those into my own work. IMG_5538(Edited)

This is gorgeous! Try mixing some of your colors with PBK11 (Mars Black or Lunar Black). To see what I mean, check out my review here on the Paul Rubens Precipitating Color set. It makes me think of the Old Masters Palettes.
Hi Sandra! Thanks for guiding me to that review. I never would think of using Mars black , or any black for that matter. Your review and examples were enlightening. You are very proficient with watercolor. I can only hope to become more comfortable and expressive with my attempts at learning the medium. I also think that the watercolor sketchbook I am using doesn’t have the best paper. I need to practice on my more expensive Arches for better results. Thanks again for your encouragement and information!
Fabulous.
Thank you Victoria!
That’s briilant, Karen.
Thanks very much Gary!
Excellent!
Thanks so much Varsha!
