If you can get to a bookstore that has lots of architectural or art books, look through Frank Ching’s books. Mine are packed or I’d suggest a good book — he is the most amazing teacher, and has clear sketches on how to do perspective in one of his drawing books.

I assume ALL paints are toxic also… Because I don’t have kids around I am not concerned but if I had kids then I would really research components of the paints.
I also keep my dirty paint water in tall spice bottles so no cat tongues can get to them (just in case they don’t mind and stay off my studio desk!)

I was blown away when I realized the difference in the level of pigmentation between student grade and pro watercolors. I have used up/given away all my student grade to a lovely grade schooler who loves my cast-offs!

Here is one of my images in my last journal. I find if I have nothing else to draw or I’ve changed my palette it definitely breaks the ice.

Great!
Wonderful!!!
This is fabulous! I’ve lived all my life here in the Portland area, but I’ve never visited the Pittock mansion. I need to do that some day.
It is worth a visit.
I love this! I think piano music. 💖
Beautiful!
Beautiful painting.
Excellent.
Wonderful. I am scared of buildings! LOL

Thanks Kate. I’ll try that. It’s those non square shapes I have trouble with mainly. The perspective angles.

This is great, thank you so much! Maybe my daughter in law and I can share it. She has an architecture degree but says she can’t draw buildings either. She’s an oil painter. I’m going to be in Pasadena in a week or so and Vroman’s bookstore there is one of the best, outside of Powell’s in Portland! Thanks again.
