Beautiful painting, Sandra. You have an amazing view from your window. Do you mind me asking what state you live in?
-
Thank you, Gary! I live in Oregon.
-
It lloks like a vert green state. I see lots of national forests on Google earth. I can see why you were so concerned about the fires.
-
Yes. Oregon is careful to protect its forests. We haven’t allowed as much building or huge recreational sites like most states have. 2/3 of the state is semi-arid, but the forested areas get lots (LOTS) of rainfall. Fires didn’t use to be a big problem. Between climate change and increasing population though, it’s getting drier every year.

Thank you, Brenda! It is wonderful to sit and look out on, especially when the birds are active!
-
I wish birds were active in my yard. But we do get dragonflies occasionally
-
We get those too! We used to get lots of nutria, but they were all removed. I know they’re considered pests, but I enjoyed their visits.

Lovely, Sandra!

This is probably the only time I\'ll do one, because I always have too many other projects going on. Artsy.rooo\'s style is so dynamic, bold and bright and I loved his challenge painting, so this once I jumped in and did it. Currently, I experimenting with the poster art style, so that\'s the way I did it. Surprisingly it came closer to Jayme\'s style than I thought it would, so I hope it\'s different enough (I know it isn\'t as well done!). Want to give it a try? Very cool story, and an amazing painting
-
Thank you, Brenda! I started my posting this morning without including the story because I thought it was one of those tales that exists in most countries in some form or another, but I was immediately asked what a hen had to do with bread, lol. We’re a small world, but not as small as I thought!
-
-
Great red hen in gouache!

Thank you, Fatima!
-
-
Lovely portrait of a diligent red hen!
-
Many thanks, Teresa!
-
-
Great painting, Sandra. I hadn’t heard the tale.
-
Thank you, Gary! I’m surprised at how many haven’t. It’s a Russian folktale, so it isn’t just something local here in America. Not sure if it’s cultural or just because fables aren’t as popular anymore.
-
-
so nicely done….love the story
-
Many thanks, Pat! It was one of my favorite childhood tales.

Beautiful, Sandra! Never heard the story either so thanks for sharing!!

Another amazing review like usually expected from the Great Sandra!!!! An artist I am honored to know through her art in doodlewash and Instagram… If I need information about a subject about watercolors, bridges, journals, gouache, pens and other things art related,I will always go and look for Sandra’s comments and reviews. thank’s Sandra for your time and good info…. Walt.
-
Where said bridges, is a mistake…. I wrote brushes and somehow my phone translator rewrote bridges…. Stupid 🤪🤪🤪 phone!!!!
-
Lol! I knew what you meant. Word correct is definitely not as helpful as the inventors meant it to be!
-
-
Wow! Thank you so much, Walt! I’m honored to receive such a glowing compliment from an artist I truly admire!
-
-
Thank you Marisela! I am staying warm. Portland got snow on Friday, but it is melting today, thank goodness. We still have 4 ft drifts in our backyard. It hasn’t been as long since I’ve seen such things, but it isn’t something we see often. Stay safe and healthy.
-
Thank you Sandra! Really beautiful work! So much light and fun.
-
Thank you so much, Nellie!
-
-
Thank you so much, Mugdha! Your comments are welcome and appreciated no matter how long after the review is posted! Stay safe and healthy.
-
Sandra, thank you for the review. I received my brushes and they are well made and fairly priced, however, I found them too large for my hands. I have very small hands and an on-going injury that forces me to use very light weight and smaller brushes. Customer service was great.
-
I’m sorry they weren’t the right fit for you. I have small hands as well, but fortunately found them to be a good balance for me.
-
-
Thank you, Michelle!
-
Thanks for the review..Been waiting for power back to read it. I mostly use Mimiks for the same reasons you give for these, so I’ll add these to my list of I want to tries. Especially the Cats Tongue. Also I haven’t found a rigger yet I like so that’s good to know…likely user error , but I keep on trying.
-
Thank you! I find riggers hard to use, too, though I didn’t have any trouble with these!

Outstanding, Sandra!!! A chocolate only diet too…my kind of world.
-
Thank you, Mary! I’ve been thinking about selling tickets to the place. I think there would be lots of takers, lol.
-
-
Incredible…I could spend hours trying to find all the prompts. It must take you as long to do this one piece as for some of us to do all the separate prompts..
-
Thank you, Pat! It’s hard to tell how long these kind of drawings take because I tend to work on them in bits and pieces. It’s too hard on the wrist to do them in one go.
-
-
Amazing painting so much details and animals!
-
Many thanks, Fatima!
-
-
Fantastic
-
Thank you, Melissa!
-
-
Beautiful, this is wonderful to study the techniques, etc.
-
Many thanks, Brenda! The challenge is to keep enough contrast in the values, so that everything doesn’t just run together. I lost it a little with the pink roses, and ended having to make other areas darker too. I wasn’t going to add color except for the heart, but did so for the contrast.
-
-
Wow, so much in one, amazing!
-
Thank you so much, Falk!
-
-
I’m always amazed when you do these complicated drawings. This one is really beautiful, Sandra.
-
Thank you, Gary! My wrist can’t stand up to doing these too often or I’d do more of them.

Absolutely beautiful, fantastic.

OH my Sandra … that is stellar. How long did it take you to do that. It is spectacular 🙂
-
Thank you, Zoie! It’s hard to tell exactly how long it took because I did it in bits and pieces, but probably 5-6 hours, with some of that spent looking at photos to refresh my memory.
-
-
That’s really inspiring both in content and technique!
