I love hens! If hens were as dutiful as kitties to use the litter box, I’ll keep a couple of fluffy hens as pets in my studio.
I posted a video of painting this hen and chickens in mi Instagram account. It shows sections of the painting process at real-time pace.

That is a most beautiful rose painting. I have three rosebushes in front of the window in front of me, covered in roses. I am about to start a painting for our granddaughter who is about to get married, and for her wedding shower, I am painting roses & sunflowers. She lives in what use to be, first our barn for our cows, then it was made over and became my craft shop, and now she has turned it into her home where they will live for awhile, and it is decorated with sunflowers on a shower curtain, metal sunflower stakes outside the front door, etc. The painting will be 30″tall and 24″wide, the largest I have ever done. I will still work in small paintings for Doodlewash, and also for designing am into. .
Congratulations, Charlie, your enthusiasm, discipline and love for watercolor and sketching are beyond inspiring, contagious! Thank you for sharing all your work and your insights on your thousand days of Doodlewashing! Keep it up!
One of the reasons I feel happy to work with watercolor is the possibility to express my feelings in paint to someone I love. This is a bouquet I sent today to my mother in celebration of her birthday.
Thank you. I think that the theme of hens and chicks is archetypal. Since they are a source of sustenance for human beings , the have become very symbolic.
For me hens are symbolic of abundance, plenty and the maternal instinct.
