Transparent Weeds in Abstract. Charlie said in his latest Doodlewash ramble that transparent is usually the main idea with watercolor, so this prompt could be anything, so I’m going with it. Sparkle Weed-Schmincke Watercolor, masking fluid in Leda Mother Medium Sketchbook

Wonderful work on the bottle – inside liquid and outer surface.

Thank you, Sharon. I didn’t have a reference and I wasn’t sure how well this worked. I’m lucky the colors came together as well as they did.

Incredible, painting and the thinking that combined so many prompts together,,,you are a smart lady…I love it…

Thank you, Pamela!

What is “glassy”?
-
“Glassy” means that something resembles or is made of glass. It is also used to refer to a look of exhaustion in someone’s eyes, when they get that blank look. One of the March challenges was Glassy so I did a glass bottle.
-
Thanks, Sandra. I thought that it had something to do with the technique. In French “glacis”, pronounced “glassy”, means glaze. So I thought you had used some kind of special glazing. BTW, I am French 😉
-
Well, I did use about six glazes, so the word would work that way too, lol.

Morning Commute-this probably wouldn’t be surprising to people who live where these sheep travel, but I would certainly be surprised to come across a flock of sheep on the road, so I decided it worked for the prompt. Is that surprising? Morning Commute

Beautiful Sandra,I love the look and the colors are super..
-
Thank you, Pamela!
-
-
Beautiful colors! How do you do the splattering?
-
I cover everything within a 2 mile radius except where I want the splatter to go, dip a toothbrush into liquid masking fluid, then run my thumb along the bristles to splatter the fluid.
-
I love the effect you achieved. How many times did you go through the splattering with this painting?
-
4 glazes and 3 splatters. The first glaze was DV yellow & Quin Gold; splatter. Second glaze- DV Phthalo Blue; splatter. Third (partial) glaze-DV yellow & Alizarin crimson; splatter and then a last glaze of Pthalo blue. I wish I hadn’t used the Alizarin Crimson though.
-
I was following a tutorial in the book ‘The Art of Painting Sea Life in Watercolor’. It’s a fantastic book with tutorials from four different authors.
-
I will have to look into the book.

Thank you, Anita!

Thank you! Probably wondering if he can get into a bird feeder, lol!

Sweet!

Thank you, Mary!

-
Aww.. this is awesome, Sandra! And I adore the line work! 😍
-
Thank you, Charlie. I was trying to push past my comfort zone, a bit, as well.
-
-
Love this! What a cute little feller, I wish Australia had squirrels.
-
They are cute, but they can be awful pests. I’ll trade you squirrels for marsupials. The only one we have here is the opossum, and they aren’t nearly as cute as the possums you have in Australia.
-
They are cute but they do run around on our roof at night and make a lot of noise.
-
-
-
Thank you, Rod!
-
Love love love your squirrel!
-
Thank you, Susan!

Those ears show quite some personality! And I love his fluffy tail. Nice richness and warmth in the colors you used.

Thank you, Alice!

Love this guy in all his bright strong colors.

Actually… I just think it looks gorgeous… the color and light are amazing! 😍
-
Thank you, Charlie! You’ve made my day.
-
-
It is beautiful! So ethereal and appears to be lit from within.
-
Thank you, Shar!
-
-
Thank you! I had to use opaque ink to hide the texture experiment and it changed the light and shadows in some areas so they don’t match. I probably won’t notice as much when I come back in a while.

No, it looks like a Louisiana bayou which can have a river or several In the area. I love this, it reminds me of how my husband and I fell in love 27 years ago, boating on the rivers, lakes and bayous of Louisiana. I’m not from there though and wanted to run away from hurricanes. Fortunately before Katrina. It is just beautiful and looks just…[Read more]

Thank you! I used a reference photo off of Pixabay, but I chose it because it reminded me of a place that was on my aunt’s property, where we played when I was a child – long, long time ago, lol.
