• Fun stuff! The thing about digital art is that you don’t need to buy supplies. I suspect that in the long run, it’s cheaper being a digital artist than a paint and paper artist. Better do both. Lol!

  • Good for you getting your book closer to done! I finally finished a cover for my upcoming poetry chapbook. Instead of watercolor, it’s an ink painting. Now I just have to wait for warmer weather so I can get it varnished and UV protected.

I spied a rabbit this morning eating spilled bird seed from under my feeders.

I’ve been doing more with alcohol ink these days than watercolor. I made a cover image for my forthcoming poetry chapbook. My publisher loves it as do I.

It’s been Covid quiet around here. My biggest thrill lately has been the blossoming of 12 of my amaryllis.…[Read more]

I found out that base no is one if the oldest dog breeds in the world. Pretty cool fact for the day. I also finally got out the alcohol inks that I purchased ages ago and decided to figure out how to use them. Fun stuff!

  • Plus, if I had read the last paragraph of your last post, I’d have known. But I was in a hurry to get back to whatever Joe and I were doing and just skimmed. Whoops!

  • I was worried that something bad had happened when you didn’t show up. I’m happy to know everything and everyone is okay. Follow your dreams.

I made a pecan pie! It was low key here today. Very cold. There’s a raccoon on the deck eating cat food. Must be like a Xmas gift to him. And now I’m watching the Grinch!

Merry Christmas! I hope it went slow and you got to appreciate every second!

Happy Christmas Eve! The days are getting longer! Joe and I started watching our Xmas binge show tonight. Season 4 of Fargo. Not very merry I realize, but we both like the black humor of the show. The Grinch won’t be on TV until Xmas night, so I need to plan my cooking around that. Joe picked up our groceries today, so we have snacks back in the…[Read more]

Joe’s picking up the last grocery order of the year tomorrow. We’re set for Xmas already, but I wanted a few things for New Years Eve. I decided on chicken biryani which I love to eat, but it takes a long time to make it, so I only really do it a couple of times a year. Hope by the time you read this, you have almost all of your wrapping done!

  • Btw, I think this is your prettiest painting ever!

  • Contrary to what some think, the 12 Days of Christmas has no hidden religious meaning. It’s just a song. Which is, thanks to you, now an earworm in my head! 😂😂 Happy solstice! We’ve made it to the other side!

I wish for a fireplace this time of year. We have one in the basement. One of those free standing black ones. If I went downstairs it would be lit, but since I don’t, it just sits. Years ago, when I was still walking, we had our furnace go out in the evening on a cold winter. Joe lit that stove and we tossed a mattress down in front of it and had…[Read more]

There’s that ribbon candy. I thought I talked to you about it in the past, but I’m not sure, it may have been someone else. Grandma Mabel as always had ribbon candy for Xmas. It’s so pretty and festive. But it tastes horrible!! I used to try some every year just in case, but it never got better! I recently looked it up on Amazon and I found some…[Read more]

  • Fantastic curious goose! There are lots of them here down by the river. Until it truly freezes we will have them hanging around. I have everything for Xmas dinner I think, though I hadn’t really thought about dessert. Maybe it’s time to make that pecan pie. Since we are still working on eating my birthday cake, it’s hard to think of another sweet.…[Read more]

  • I got waylaid by a phone call, so I still have to frost my birthday cake. I was still making the cake at 4 o’clock. Joe got me a few gauche paints that I wanted. All I had was white and I thought it would be nice to have a few other colors of opaque paint for spattering. I too love saved by the bell! My favorite Xmas thing to watch is The Grinch…[Read more]

Considering what a sucky year it’s been, it has gone by very fast. Tomorrow, or today for you reading this, is my birthday. I received my annual card from my aunt on my dad’s side. She sent me some money in the card. It is in memory of my dad who sent me $5 every year in my birthday card. It was his idea of a joke. He’d have my mom write on the…[Read more]

  • Fruitcake. Not a fan. That said, my favorite holiday story is A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote and it centers around fruitcake. Go figure. And if you have never read this story, find it online and read it. I think after all this time reading your essays I know you well enough to say that you will adore it. It even has a little dog in it for Phineaus.

  • When my Grandparents died I inherited a box of their tree ornaments and one thing in there was a small paper sack that held a bundle of old fashioned tinsel. The real kind made of metal instead of plastic. It always draped so nice. I remember dad supervising us kids decorating trees over the years and insisting that tinsel be put on one strand at…[Read more]
