It was so nice to have some friends over this weekend. We stayed outside because it was beautiful, but no masks were required! This has been a wonderful spring. My flowers are beautiful and long lasting because it has been cool. I finished planting my veg garden today. Twenty two tomato plants!
I love crickets and especially katydids. We have so many here in the country. After tonight, we are predicted to get a permanent warm up with no more frost! I’m so glad I will be able to get some things in the gardens. I had to cover some things the last few nights to protect them from freezing. I’m tired of it. Are you guys still staying home,…[Read more]
Good for you getting your book closer to done! I finally finished a cover for my upcoming poetry chapbook. Instead of watercolor, it’s an ink painting. Now I just have to wait for warmer weather so I can get it varnished and UV protected.
I found out that base no is one if the oldest dog breeds in the world. Pretty cool fact for the day. I also finally got out the alcohol inks that I purchased ages ago and decided to figure out how to use them. Fun stuff!
Happy Christmas Eve! The days are getting longer! Joe and I started watching our Xmas binge show tonight. Season 4 of Fargo. Not very merry I realize, but we both like the black humor of the show. The Grinch won’t be on TV until Xmas night, so I need to plan my cooking around that. Joe picked up our groceries today, so we have snacks back in the…[Read more]
Joe’s picking up the last grocery order of the year tomorrow. We’re set for Xmas already, but I wanted a few things for New Years Eve. I decided on chicken biryani which I love to eat, but it takes a long time to make it, so I only really do it a couple of times a year. Hope by the time you read this, you have almost all of your wrapping done!
Contrary to what some think, the 12 Days of Christmas has no hidden religious meaning. It’s just a song. Which is, thanks to you, now an earworm in my head! 😂😂 Happy solstice! We’ve made it to the other side!
I wish for a fireplace this time of year. We have one in the basement. One of those free standing black ones. If I went downstairs it would be lit, but since I don’t, it just sits. Years ago, when I was still walking, we had our furnace go out in the evening on a cold winter. Joe lit that stove and we tossed a mattress down in front of it and had…[Read more]
There’s that ribbon candy. I thought I talked to you about it in the past, but I’m not sure, it may have been someone else. Grandma Mabel as always had ribbon candy for Xmas. It’s so pretty and festive. But it tastes horrible!! I used to try some every year just in case, but it never got better! I recently looked it up on Amazon and I found some…[Read more]
Fantastic curious goose! There are lots of them here down by the river. Until it truly freezes we will have them hanging around. I have everything for Xmas dinner I think, though I hadn’t really thought about dessert. Maybe it’s time to make that pecan pie. Since we are still working on eating my birthday cake, it’s hard to think of another sweet.…[Read more]
