Lisa Sandboge started the topic Difference between tubes vs pans? in the forum Seeking Advice 4 years, 9 months ago
Hello all! Recently I stumbled upon a discussion about the difference between pans vs tubes. I was told that the pigment load in Winsor & Newton professional tubes is much higher than in pans. Schmincke Horadam on the other hand is known for having the same recipe for both tubes and pans.
Now I wonder – is this true? Why have a lower pigment load…[Read more]

Very nice chart Kate! I used a 17×24 cm paper for my chart, and it’s a bit cropped, but I think the squares are around 4×5 centimeters.

Thank you! I started out with watercolor when I was around 12, and continued until I went to art school in my 20s. Somehow I learned that what I did was not good enough, so I completely stopped painting. Then when my daughter started doodling and painting about 3 years ago, I somehow ended up painting again! So I still consider myself a beginner.…[Read more]

Yes I’ve seen her work Sharon, thanks! She’s great! Also, as a Swedish artist she manages to be a “real” urban sketcher even though the weather is crap so many months of the year. It’s amazing! It was awhile since I last checked out her webpage, but I did that just now and I’m really stunned by her work. It’s simple, yet so perfect. Amazing!

That’s helpful advice Dominik! I’ve never even thought about adding the outlines afterwards, so that sounds like a good plan to try! Thanks!

Thanks for your helpful response! You are absolutely right, I rushed it a bit, and I should have put more time into the initial sketch. As this was a first try mistakes were of course gonna happen – so, more practice clearly needed! 🙂

I’ve been looking at tons of videos of Teoh Yi Chie lately and I really like his sketching style. So, this is my first try painting something like urban sketching, although faked (from a photo) because I won’t freeze my ass off (it’s raining some mix between wet cold snow and rain, and it’s around 0-2 degrees celsius/32-35 fahrenheit) sitting…[Read more]
