Beautiful range of blues and love the waves!!

@mary-roff
Thanks, Mary. The scanner didn’t do a fantastic job with the blues. They are actually more turquoise with hints of green and I feel that some vibrancy is lost in the scan.Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.
Best wishes,
Liz

It’s starting out beautifully! I found that when I switched from acrylics it was a bit like that switch from positive to negative painting. I had to think light to dark instead of dark to light. That really threw me for a while and I still tend to loose my whites because I don’t think it through carefully enough.

@sandra-strait
Definitely. The whole process is in reverse and I’m finding myself very heavy handed. And I’m not a fan of once its down I can’t paint over it either. But it has a delicacy that acrylics can lack. Though I have decided that I need some better and finer watercolour brushes. These ones are expensive, but I’m used to working with…[Read more]-

Thanks, Kaye 😀 There is now a song going around in my head 😀 Yeah, it is pretty much okay put the brush to the paper and care less about what happens and more about working with it.Thanks for dropping by 😀

Wow….When you attempt you go big,,,,it’s going to be beautiful…love your palette,,what is it?
-
@pamela-smith
It is a Windsor and Newton Cotman colours palette. Not high end watercolours, but they do the job. I usually work in acrylics so I have more high end paints in that medium.I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing with this medium, and to top it all off, this design is a new style for me regardless of medium so I’m pretty much…[Read more]

LOL, I n early July I doodled bears in bushes/woods (I’ll have to find it) … sitting in a hotel room. It’s not my only piece done in weird random places that I liked the final product. Hmm, is environment THAT influential?

Thank you Liz. I think my practice is starting to pay off a little; but in the final piece, I am likely to do linework individually over each tone … those tiny horizontal strokes, if that makes sense.

Great fog, the subtle bark detail is great.
I have a w.i.p. of trees and can appreciate how well you did this! Kudos!-
Thank you, Sue 😀 I painted this in a hotel room while on holiday and pretty much had very little of an idea of what I was doing, so I was pleasantly surprised when it kinda worked okay. I still need a lot more practise with this medium – it is still scary 😀

Thank you, I wish time allowed this one to happen now, but life.
What you see here is actually 5 or 6 thin layers and much time frustrated as I realized how backwards I was doing it. I boarded them together (on my dining table,lol) to do them simultainiously in an effort to optimize the differences …. what I don’t show here is my ‘instruction…[Read more] -
