Wasn’t excited about doing an airplane for yesterday’s prompt, but then came across this new stamp when scrolling instagram. I started out being meticulous in wanting to duplicate it and soon realized that was not going to happen so it is sloppy. Convinced myself to post it anyway this morning. View
Today, our prompt was “Something Red” in honor of the start of the Chinese New Year, though it could, of course, apply to anything red at all. I love the lanterns that appear this time of year, and love even more
Hey this is just superb, love it. Happy New year, I’m an ox moo and my husband’s a snake lol I have no idea if we are a good match 😮😋😍 my kids are a dog and monkey 🙂 i love these daily inspirations and ideas, I’m trying things I’d never normally do and really enjoying it.
Fabulous Charlie. I just had to do a search to see that I’m a sheep and my husband is a snake. I didn’t look to see if we are compatible. Late night for us. We went to the New Hampshire theater awards tonight as our oldest daughter was nominated for best actress in a community theater musical. She didn’t win but it was an honor to be nominated. I am now enjoying quiet as there was a great deal of screaming as award winners were announced.
You are such a sweet couple (my thoughts, while I was reading this).
Also had to think of the movie ‘The red lantern’. And of a chinese set of brushes and ink etc. in a special box, I once bought for my mother (who passed away 4 y. ago on 23 jan.). So far I didn’t find the box yet. Maybe on a Chinese New Year’s day 🙂
Not a fan of rats, but yours has a touch of whimsy to him to make him acceptable. 😉 I have a friend in Malaysia right now. They went for a wedding and the Chinese New Year. I am excited to see her pictures of the colorful events.
What’s Black & White & Red All Over-I thought about entering the competition for the 2019 Hahnemühle calendar contest. I never got around to it, but this is a study that did. The theme was ‘Red’ #Doodlewash #Hahnemühle_USA #ZebraPenUS amLL
Thank you, Lisa! Hahnemühle has a calendar contest every year. 2020’s was motion, but I forgot to check and it was too late to paint anything. I’d have to be really excited about it because the minimum size is 16 x 20 inches and I’d have to ship my original from the U.S. to Germany if I got into the finals. That would be really expensive.
Thanks, Karen! I painted this from a photo of a mass planting of Bee Balm i saw on a trip to WNY a few years ago. There were almost as many bees, butterflies and hummingbirds as there were flowers…it was just a beautiful sight!
For our prompt of “Flamingo” today, I decided to do a quick little sketch in three colors of one admiring its own shadow. As a kid, I was always really fascinated by shadows. I found a book at the library once on
Fantastic flamingo Charlie! How great to be in the right place to watch the bird saga and to observe a happy ending. It’s the seemingly insignificant things we are lucky enough to observe that others miss out on because they either have forgotten how to truly see the world that we walk through or they just don’t take the time.
You’ve perfectly described the skies around here lately. It feels like perpetual twilight. It’s fun to sit and look out on the lake, though. Not as many birds right now, but we have a Nutria that has decided that something in our lawn is tasty, and there are always ducks floating about.
Pretty bird, pretty bird! I had a bird experience the other morning. There were 4 large flocks of geese flying by sort of in a row. I’ve never seen that many flying together before. I am thankful they weren’t too close to our house! It could have been a mess.
Beautiful!!! Love your shadow too!!! I really love shadows in the real world and love to see what made them when it is not always clear. It can be fun lol. But when it comes to painting em ehhhhh lol so i guess that thing that says do it!! lol 🙂
Thanks so much, Lisa! 😃💕 Shadows are so fun when they seem mysterious and hard to figure out. As for painting them… that’s kind of the concept I use. hehe… it’s just a shape sort of under and a bit like the thing. lol I paint that in some clear water and then pop in some color and hope for the best! 😉
Thanks so much! 😃💕 I did use a free reference for this one from Pixabay. Normally I sort of guess at the shadows, but wanted to try to get one that was a bit more accurate for this post since it was about shadows! hehe 😉
1/24/20 Flamingos I spent a delightful morning at the Sarasota Jungle Gardens recently. The gardens have been in operation since 1939 and it’s a wonderful place to spend a morning. They have a good size population of flamingos and it’s just amazing to watch them. This character just happened to be walking down the path by himself.1.24.20 Flamingo img006
For our prompt of “Oranges” today, I opted for a few still in the tree being admired by a Baltimore oriole. I’d seen an article that said the Baltimore oriole is particularly attracted to ripe oranges, hence the
Oh funny! When I was a kid my dad told my mom he wanted to raise a cow …she told him no way because it would be in their bed with the cat and dogs and there wasn’t enough room for another animal… Know what you can manage. 😉
In the spring, upon the first flash of orange I see, I begin putting out orange halves and grape jelly. We have loads of orioles coming in all spring. I just love it! And this past year I had huge numbers of rose breasted grosbeaks too. It was the first time that happened. Birds enrich my life so much.
So lovely! I love the dimension on your oranges. If I recall, I wasn’t so successful on mine. I did them a few days ago.;) Yes owning a home comes with lots of baggage. We are in the final estimate of replumbing our entire 60 year old home. I thought the money part was going to be the stressful part…..ha! Plumbers are stressful!
