Rolling into the paint with my brayer, then rolling the brayer onto the wet paper created a big mess! What to do? I quickly grabbed a foam stencil I\'d made and pressed that into the mess. It lifted some of the paint, leaving behind the spiral pattern. So then I grabbed a piece of w/c paper with a warm background wash, and stamped onto it with the foam, repeating many times until spontaneous2 was covered and enough of the paint mess was lifted from spontaneous to create nice spirals. There was still some paint left on the plexiglass, so I pressed a small piece of w/c paper onto the paint. Hmmmmm, it looked like a wind-blown tree on a rocky shore. I grabbed a small brush and added more paint from the plexiglass to better define the scene, thus creating spontaneous3. Which one do you like? -
WOW! Would be tough to choose; they’re all wonderful!!
-
Thanks so much Mary!

They all are fun Susan. It’s great just to play and see what develops. I have a growing stack waiting to see what they might become. Some might be used in collage.
-
Thanks Karen. I, too, have stacks- some for doodling, some to gesso, and some for collage. I don’t seem to ever get to the collage stage though. Maybe I’ll have to make a point of it. Gotta re-use, reduce and recycle. My 3 R’s lol!

#WorldWatercolorMonth Day 14 prompt: Green
With a background of gamboge, I used ferns gathered over 8 years ago (and pressed in an art book) from our lake house. I then used greens in w/c and gouache to positively and negatively paint the ferns. The bursts are from sea green brusho, and look rather blue to me. Beautiful and what a wonderful place to live Susan!

It was a gorgeous place, but we were the only year-round residents on the lake, and it could feel a little isolated in the winter. Loved the lake and the forests.

I can see why you’d miss it!

I considered handfasting, or food fasting. What appealed, though, was a fast painting in an experimental style. I prepared my 140 lb w/c paper with gesso, gloss medium and salt. I pressed some gold metal leaf into the medium and let everything dry overnight. The next day I set out fresh paint in 3 colours: burnt sienna, perylene violet, and my new-to-me aussie red gold. I\'d received a brusho set on Wednesday, and decided to add turquoise brusho to my supplies. I loaded my brush with the 3 paints and drew lines across the damp paper, flipping the brush after each row to make some colours wider than others. I then sprinkled on the turquoise brusho, and a bit of salt. I spritzed here and there with alcohol and water. After all the prep, it took about 5 minutes. The result? Layers. 9\"x12\" I love it!
