I lost what I was replying! I took lessons, but only 350 dollars worth. It covered the basics, and some parts I knew. She encouraged me, and noticed that I love to paint clouds. I do.

I had 300 dollars worth of lessons from a teacher who used to teach in the schools. She taught the basics, which I knew, but she said, “You put the clouds in your paintings. Are they special to you?” I thought this was profound. I love the clouds when they come, and I paint from my heart. I have little training, but wisdom is there at the oddest times!

I know little about what they are made of, but I love acrylic paints. They clean up quickly, where oil paint is a process, and if you don’t clean the brushes enough, it can be a problem.

I use it for depth of color, contrast, etc. I love brightness, and glowing colors. I love to see what others are painting. My family has gone on, but they were talented. I took courses in Art when I had to take more hours for certification. It helped to have some knowledge.

I have found that water color is wonderful, but I use acrylic paint to make the water color brighter. I use the combination. I paint out the scene, and the the focus is usually in the acrylic paint that dries quickly. I use to paint with oil paints, but my father would say, “Use Acrylic paints.” I found them to be delightful, and bright.

I just found your reply. I have spent hours on a flower. I am sure God is detailed in all things. I paint flowers, because they are beautiful, and not easy to paint. It takes time to render a flower, but I have several hanging different places. I used to tear flowers apart when I was a kid. Now I paint them, when I have time. Otherwise I look at…[Read more]

I agree. Many paint because they are depressed. I don’t think one can stay depressed if they observe nature, and see how intricate the details are on plants, and especially on flowers.

The title caught my eye. Keep painting. It is good for your eyes, and heart to have a hobby like this. Painting is hard work. It looks easy, but most of us have a gifting of loving to paint. Some talented people don’t pick up a brush, and others thrive on painting what they see. Imagination plays a wonderful part. Thanks for sharing your art with us.

I took a walk with my husband through the hospital, to see a friend there. She moved from the 9th floor, to the third floor. We were glad we stopped at the desk to ask where she was in the hospital. Our person had company, but this lady was wonderful, and full of wisdom, and caring. She was staying with our friend and making her feel at home, if…[Read more]

You might choose a hard task, but this builds your mind. It also gives you something to do that isn’t boring. It is a challenge. Conquer the challenges, and you learn to do this in life.

I love your style, and that the paintings don’t appear heavy. There is lightness about them. I love everything I see here, and that is not always the case.
