Walnuts are so simple looking and yet not so simple to paint. There are variations in pretty much the same one color and then there are all the bumps, nooks and crannies on both the nut and the shell. Lol, at one point I had a reasonably good painting and then my inner artist took control and decided that fountain pen line work was called for while the paper was still damp. I think she wanted the line work to feather and bleed a bit. Which it kind of did and kind of didn’t. So once dry, black ink came into play to pull some detail back out. 😄
