#DoodlewashJanuary2021 Prompt: Cocoon. I
Did you know that moths make cocoons, which are made of silk, but butterflies form a hardened skin called a chrysalis?
This is the last page in this ZigZag journal where I used the red & yellow gouache for backgrounds using a GelliArts printing plate . I used blues and a cooler red on the back pag […] View
Wonderful. I love studying your work.
Thank you, Brenda! I was trying to see if I could get a certain effect with gouache on rough paper. Nope. I couldn’t. I like it anyway, lol.
Fantastic, Sandra!
A thousand thanks, Mary!
Awesome!
Many thanks, Zertab!
Nice Sandra…. Like the vibrant colors.
Thank you, Walt! I was trying to see if I could adapt a technique that is normally done with gesso, gouache and acrylic. It didn’t work as I hoped, but the painting came out okay anyway.
I love this Sandra.😊
Many thanks, Zoie!
That’s great Sandra. I’ve been thinking of buying some gouache having seen your pictures. What make do you use?
Thank you, Gary! I actually have several brands. Winsor & Newton Designer gouache is good but expensive. I received some Arteza for Christmas. They’re priced well but only come in sets. They do seem to have the widest range of colors at the moment. Schmincke has a reputation as the best, but it’s hard to find and is highly priced here in the U.S., so I haven’t tried it. You might find it more easily and cheaper in England. Oh, and be sure you don’t get Acrylic or Acryla Gouache. It’s actually acrylic versus watercolor, and you can’t rewet it.
Gorgeous!
Thank you, Jessica!
Sandra, Amazing!!
Thank you so much, Lori!
Nice job.
Thank you, Everett! I was attempting to see if I could adapt a David Grove/Thomas Blackshear technique. I knew it was a longshot, so I stopped before I totally ruined the painting, but it did get overworked a bit.
Amazing Sandra!
Thank you, Fatima!
Gorgeous!!
Thank you, Priscilla!
