Great job on the dog. Like the added ink.
Thank you, Angela! Line and wash is more my usual style, though I’ve been drifting away from it.
Love it, I do a bit of it myself although some people like to point out on my fb groups that adding ink makes it an illustration rather than a painting, I just laugh an figure I’ll continue to do me.
I’ll debate that description. My understanding is that the difference between art and illustration is in the intended usage, not the medium. An illustration is meant to illustrate something, whether for a story, a poster, or an ad. A painting done as fine art is done as the artists desires, with unlimited creativity, often dealing more with emotion than reality. There’s obviously a lot of overlap. A painting, whether pen is used or not, can be an illustration. An illustration can be a painting, because art obviously illustrates in way a photo cannot (not that photos can’t be art, too). Many paintings succeed as both. Someone who tries to make rules to label paintings as one or the other is totally missing the point.
Thank you, I totally agree. I started out as a graphite or pen and ink sketcher. I just started watercolor 4 months ago when I picked up art again after about 30 years of raising kids and working prevented it.
I agree. Tell them it’s called mixed media.
Beautifully painted, Sandra.
Thank you, Gary!
Beautiful Sandra.
Thank you, Victoria!
