Birds – A few years ago, I participated in a Moly Exchange. Unfortunately, one person dropped out without notice and ended up with almost all the books, so I never got mine back. This is one of the drawings, obviously a beach scene, and that’s a shore bird in the front. Right. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it, lol. PAGES 5.6 SANDRA

There were eight of us who each bought a Moleskine accordion book. Each person would do artwork in a certain number of pages and then mail it to the next person, who would do artwork in a certain number of pages. This would supposedly continue until all eight people has done artwork in each book and once it was filled it would be returned to the original person and everyone would have a book filled with art. The problem, of course, is that everyone joins online, no one really knows the others and the books are going all over the country, if not the world. It only takes one person to stop sending the books and you lose them. That’s what happened with this exchange. Only three of us got our books.
This is a “Wow!” Sandra. With something this detailed and ornate, wondering how much of it is pre-determined in your vision, vs how much comes along as you have pen in hand. – and shame on that person!
Although I was unhappy that I never got my book back, I try not to be angry with the person – for all I know they died or had something horrible happen in their life. Given that possibility, I have to hope they were just being annoying. With the exchange, each person had a theme that you were supposed to work on, in whatever way you interpreted it. I believe this one was ocean, so I this time I did have an general idea in mind – then it was a manner of choosing tangles that would evoke the feeling I wanted. None of this was planned per se, I just let it flow once I had the feel in mind.
