World Watercolour Group™ My Amaryllis Nursery------ A very quick sketch on awful paper of my nursery of very fast growing plants, I keep looking at them and every time I look they have grown another inch, so I grab the first bit of paper and did the sketches. just as a record and for my own research, I will catch up with them properly when the flowers start.... World Watercolour Group™ POPPIES ON SILK GONGBI STYLE done with Chinese ink and brushes. started at a workshop on Saturday. I drew the poppies on paper first then transferred to the silk with ground ink and very fine Chinese brushes. not sure whether i will continue with painting this or make a new silk painting due to problems with crinkling on the silk, i think i will try to stretch the silk first before starting the painting. World Watercolour Group™ My Amaryllis Nursery ---- i now have five bulbs growing in all different colours and stages but as far as i know only one is a double flower, my first posting (last week) of first two of bulbs have now double in size, it is very hard to keep up with them. these are the slower growing ones, and the top one I bought on Tuesday, i find that after Christmas is the best time to buy these bulbs because they are nearly always half price and i think they need rescuing as they start to grow inside the box..... World Watercolor Group?. Rekindled Memories --ELEPHANT WALK---This painting reminds me of our last trip in January 2017 to Northern Kenya Africa. we went out every morning at the crack of dawn and drive for a couple of hours to the river and wait for the Elephants to come. we would see a couple, then a few more .eventually we were surrounded by elephants, it was wonderful they would come very close and sniff at us , we felt no threat from these gentle giants as they played in the mud and water, then they would go for a sand wash, this we did get a little sandy, but we just sat and took hundreds of photos, even the guide said he had never been that close to an elephant before, it was funny to see him take a few selfies with elephants close up behind him.i am sure that the elephants did remember us, as by the third day they took no notice of us except to trump and say morning, the babies were really funny trying to get up the slippery banks but needing the help from mum from behind. I know how David Attenborough must feel when he is on location in the bush, it is a wonderful feeling to be that close to the giants of Africa..... ELEPHANT WALK

From a demonstration painting in January's The ARTIST Magazine.. When I saw this painting ,I knew I had to have a go, after several attempts at drawing, I gave in and took an outline tracing. I used water coloured pencils for the basic layer, Then I used a damp brush to blend, when dry I chose PrismaColour pencils to do several layers. I used a very light blend of baby oil to finish. I did enjoy every minute. Thank you all for your encouraging comments along the journey of this painting. FADED ROSE fini....

This is the 2nd session on this rose and now comes the difficult part of adding more colour. I have done this so far with watercolour pencils which means I could add a dampish brush to blend, then I have to decide which medium to use ...more colour pencils or watercolour paints, at this stage I am not sure --but erring on the side of pencils.... FADED ROSE. TAKE2
