This really is a Magnolia, I checked the name tag of the tree 🙂 We call it a Star Magnolia.

I haven’t tried that many brands. I like the Arteza Watercolor pencils that I’ve been using. For this piece, though I used regular colored pencils (Zebra Zensations) over watercolor paint that had been salted.
I found this while poking through some of my old art journals from 2013. I get bouts of insomnia off and on and one night at 3:00 am I grabbed a mirror and did a self-portrait. Nobody can say I’m vain, lol. CAATSOL Lesson #30
Thank you, Charlie! You are such a flatterer, lol. My husband says this is the way I look when I’m giving him the stink-eye! Half the time my insomnia is caused by ideas racing through my head. Sometimes it helps if I get up and work on one of them. Sometimes.
Lol… there’s a fine line between stink eye and creative distraction I’ve found! lol I’m often accused of being abrupt or distant, but darn it… those ideas… they just aren’t going to make themselves! 😉 hehe
Can feel the sap rising, the creative joy returning. Have been watching vids on youtube by Jean Lursson, and also inspired by Morten E Solberg.
