Today’s prompt, berries, brought back a wonderful memory for me. I remember growing up a horse drawn cart carrying fruit and produce coming around.. you would hear the man singing “strawberries, blueberries, cheer-er-ries,” long before you saw the horse wearing his straw hat or heard the clip clip of his hives upon the pavement. As grandmas selected what would be for dinner or dessert that night, the children were given a treat of an apple, banana or a handful of berries. How I miss the smell of grandmas pies baking in the oven.
