I watched a video by “Mind of Watercolor” on YouTube yesterday and he showed me the difference between wood-pulp and cotton paper. I had been using a cheap wood-pulp paper. This is on Arches, 140 lb. What a difference! Water drop “motion” for today! 20180306_133613

Sandra, the shells really look like they’re on the bottom of the sea! Is the sandy texture from the paper surface that you used?

Thank you, Kathy! Yes, the William Turner paper has great texture. I also used Lunar Blue (which I forgot when I listed the colors) and it is highly granulating.

Thank you, I do too. I think it is one of my favorite techniques.

I like it, too! That sometimes happens to me. I’ll dislike a painting until I’ve had time to see it with fresh eyes. A good reminder to hold onto one’s work for awhile before making decisions…..

That has become my new game plan lately. It always looks much better after it dries.

Yay!! A Jessica review! Thanks for much for introducing Treckell and for the great review. That video of painting the Taj Mahal is amazing! Also, thank you thank you for your thoughts on creativity and dealing with critics, external and internal.

I find that video to be mesmerizing. I’ve had it with that critical place! Seeing other people in that way hurts everyone, including the one doing the critical seeing/expressing. It is telling though, because that is the way we are experiencing life then, through that lens. It’s internal. It’s painful. But, we don’t have to give our power away to it by participating. Nice to hear from you Ellie!

Have to share my salt story from yesterday. This time I applied the salt when the areas were wet and waited. I dropped quite a bit of salt on each area, and when it dried the salt had absorbed all the color and the areas were almost white. :0 I think I’m getting there though.
