This was my first attempt with Kelly Eddington’s Strathmore Workshop, and using my Winsor Newton Cotman tube set, and using my Silver Brush Black Velvet brushes. I’ve always had such control with the WN WC Markers as well as my Albrecht Durers, that it was a riot of fun splashing liquid watercolours. LOL I’m going to repeat this project every day to get better with the water levels on the brushes. Oh – I played with a rake brush for a bit more grass texture, a carryover technique from my oil days. 15977045-D7DC-448D-BFDF-039A977F4902

    • Beautiful…

    • What a lovely painting of a lovely scene!

      • Thank you Sandra! 😍 Have you had time to do it as well yet?

        • I haven’t yet. I probably won’t get a chance until Thursday or Friday.

          • I can’t wait to see yours, Sandra! By then I will hopefully have figured out what I’m doing and be ready for critiquing feedback, although a few medical appts today and tomorrow may impact my additional attempts. 😏 *fingers crossed* as I want to play some more – I had such fun yesterday!

            • I’ve got to take Mom for medical visits, and doing taxes and today my laptop isn’t working properly. *sigh* Real life shouldn’t aughta get in the way of art like this, lol.

          • Real life – IKR!!! lol I do hope your laptop fixes itself – it’s just mean of them to misbehave. 😢 Hope your mother’s medicals go well. Mine will be a mess as always I’m sure. lol

    • I love the Strathmore workshops. I am “quiltnc” and painted a couple apple trees. Good idea to keep practicing every day!

      • They are so fun, aren’t they, Jeanne?!? I really like this first week’s project and had hoped to get two more attempts in but got siderailed the last 3 days. I got my masking fluid done yesterday though and look forward to another go today. Your user ID – a quilter then too? My sister is a textile artist too!

        • Yes, I have always sewed, and made my first quilt 35 years ago. I like making quilts, but started watercolor painting in my sixties after I retired. My studio has fabric, quilting machine, and sewing machines on one side, and art stuff on the other. I try not to get paint on the fabrics…unless I am painting fabric on purpose! I have even made a few quilts out of watercolor on silk or oriental paper.
