@von, thinking about this – have you bought any Shizen yet? Let me look and see if I can find mine and if I can (not a sure thing, lol) and you haven’t bought any, I’ll send you some so you can try it before you buy it.
-
I hear you on the papers!! LOL oh and journals! 😱 it’s nuts! Yes, I bought that Shizen and got it today – I couldn’t resist. 😂😂😂 The sad part is that I have no idea who recommended it … a whole 4 days ago! 🤣
-
Ah well. It probably would have taken me forever to find it, lol. Although now that I know I don’t need to find it, I’ll probably stumble across it without even looking. The gremlins make such things happen!
-
LOL Yes those gremlins sure do that! 😂❣️ Thank you for thinking of me though! (((hugs)))

@von Yvonne, these are some of the pieces that I did on Shizen paper. It’s lovely to work with especially if you’re trying to loosen up. The rough but slightly slick surface helps with that. Ohhhh Sandra those are wonderful! The rough texture offers a sense of reality somehow. Like with the fruit – you’ve added some of their texture but paper supports and enhances it. Likewise with the ladies, it gives you more of the 3-D quality because of the rough dips in them and their surroundings. But ohhh that elephant cup is tooooooo s…[Read more]

Thank you, Yvonne! I know I still have some of this around – I have SO much paper, lol. I could probably go 10 years and never have to buy paper again. Not that that will stop me for buying more.

Hi! There didn’t seem to be a thread for introductions, so I figured I should post here after the lovely welcome from @von! Hello again! I’m Fearn, although I go by the name Fefe online. I’m not really new to watercolours, having played with them on and off in my teens, but only recently have I set out to get seriously good at them (reading books,…[Read more]

@von Check out this review of Bee paper from Teoh. He finds lots of problems with that paper. That may be the problem. https://youtu.be/O4-6j0OCbJI

YAY – Glad you found him! Of all the artists out there, Rick and Hadjra are two of my favourites as they really pack the education into their videos.

@jeanne-mcbrayer @von Jeanne, forgot to mention when we were “talking” about our quilting experiences: I got into watercolors because I heard a lecture on and saw some other work by quilters who combined the two media. I wanted to try the combination of watercolor on fabric followed by thread painting. Even took a class with Caryl Bryer Fallert…[Read more]

@shar-kennett Shar, I think it’s a really fascinating process and envy that you’ve taken a class on it! I’ve no where to do it now anymore but can sure sit in the cheerleading corner when you do! 👏🏻❣️👏🏻 Shar, I shouldn’t think it would take a lot of skill preparation to do it and you seem fully qualified, in my opinion. ὡ…

@von Yvonne, I’m repeating a post I put in the forum, in case you don’t see it there. 1)The tutorial from Rick Surowicz just came out yesterday. I think the reason it opened at a point during the video is because that’s the moment I decided to pause it and post it here. 2) I have tried to post so the image shows up, using the rectangle icon, b…[Read more]

Ahhh thanks Sharon! I thought it was me, as you no doubt guessed. I proof-watch so many to see what they are like and can usually assess quickly on if I think they will be of merit in some way to us. Plus I get interrupted a lot, whilst life occurs here, and always lose my place at YT so partially viewed bits get lost in the process. I’m not v…[Read more]

@von Hi Yvonne, me again. 🙂 What browsers are working at this time? I will switch over for now .

Shar, I think Charlie said Chrome was working and there was one other, but I can’t remember what it was now. 😏 I know that Firefox and Safari are not working because I tried both of those. What browser are you using?

Firefox.

Yes, me too – along with Safari. I was going to try Windows “Edge” today. *fingers crossed* lol
