Decided to doodlewash my previous sketch as it was just screaming for a sky! I tried the sky starting with a wet on wet technique, but then came back in after it was dry to add a bit more definition so there was a bit more drama to it.
The foreground was crazy complex with all sorts of houses, trees, stone walls and other things cropping up here and there. Starting with a detailed ink drawing is definitely a different effect. It’s a bit more literal so it’s sometimes harder to decide which colors to use.
Since I’m participating in #DrawingAugust it’s been easier to doodlewash these sketches, but I really want to try some more pencil sketches with watercolor soon. In the end, I’m just so happy doodlewashing that I don’t mind how it happens. It’s truly the most fun I’ve had in well… ever!

Charlie, you gotta be happy with this. Honestly most of your stuff should be hanging on a wall. It’s consistently good.
Thank you Kirk! I sincerely appreciate that!! I’m just sort of going for it every day and not really worrying about the outcome. My mom in Texas requested a piece to be brought to her at the next family gathering so I figured I’m doing okay! Hehe
Moms!
