So it’s probably no surprise to those who’ve been following me that my favorite dinner food is dessert! I’m not super picky when it comes to dessert, but when I’m going out to dinner, I really appreciate having a few options on the menu. When you’re eating at one of the finer restaurants, you can usually bet on only 5 or 6 dessert options. One is always some ridiculously decadent triple chocolate creation, but this is never the one I like best. Although I love chocolate, I prefer a full dose and don’t care for the watered down versions that come in dessert form. My selection is usually whatever is mainly vanilla and cream. Actually, just homemade whipped cream is probably my favorite dessert of all. It’s like enjoying all the decadent delights of having a premium ice cream with only half the guilt.

As I type this, Philippe and I are discussing dessert options for this evening. I really wanted a cobbler, but we have some bananas that are getting too brown so it looks like we’ll be doing something with those instead. Dessert doesn’t always accompany dinner for us, but that’s what makes it so special. And I should now admit that I’m hyper multi-tasking with too many things happening at once. We’re also watching a Crafsty class currently and drinking wine, so I’m going to keep this post short today. I hope all of you are enjoying a wonderful weekend and if dessert is a favorite of yours as well, I hope you’re enjoying some of that too!

  1. Your desserts look delicious. You’ve done a fantastic job on the sheens on the metallics and the textures in the desserts. I remember being out for a meal with work friends and spotting a menu option where I could pick any five desserts and have miniature versions of them. It was amazing. I didn’t have to make a tough choice and I got to eat these perfectly shrunk confections and convince myself they barely had any calorie content because they were so small.

  2. Yummy looking desserts! I am with you and Philippe, I LOVE dessert though I try not to have them too often just because of the obvious and I am a bit picky though. Yes, pray tell, what did you make with the bananas? something yummy I hope!

  3. Sounds like a sozzler of an evening for you both! 🎨🍌
This plate of delicious-looking treats would keep me hyper for days!! Bannoffee pie anyone…

  4. I read the title, opened the site, and burst out laughing – favorite dinner indeed!.
Yeah, dessert first, always! I’d need a big spoonful of each of these delightful treats before I could choose my favorite. Maybe seconds and thirds or more of each – just o be sure.
But pu-leeze stop doing this to me, I really am trying to di-et!
Beautifully painted, BTW – just purr-fect-o! Can you make a dish of carrots and zucchini look as delish?

  5. Wonderfull, beautiful painted with your heart I can feel, see that from over the big Atlantic.
I never eat desserts, but love, love whipped cream. We have a kind of cake that is whipped cream in a covering of chocolate, typical Dutch design, and here in our village we have a bakery who is the best in this.
When I walk along this bakery, and I often do, I speak to myself, no I don!t go inside but some days my body is walking from itself in to that bakery😊😧
By the way,I am always wondering about your silver/metal color of knife and fork, what is the secret Charlie? I don’t have silver of metal paint in watercolor, do you?

    1. Thanks Margriet! 😃💕 So happy you liked this one! And my mouth is watering at your description of that bakery!!! I want to go!! If I were walking next to you, I’d be pushing you inside!! LOL

As for painting metal, it’s all about shapes and sharp contrast to create the illusion! Deep blacks against the white of the paper or transparent colors. The more extreme the contrast the more it gives the illusion of shiny metal.

      1. Thans Charlie, I,ll try this deep black and so on the white paper. I am afraid that it sounds easier then it is for me but perhaps……
Yeah this chocolate and delicious whipped Cream is absolutely heavenly! I am sure you would-be like this.

  6. These desserts look so delicious. They remind me of some desserts I really wanted to try at yesterday’s Giants game. My friend and I explored AT&T stadium during the game, checking out the different foods and desserts offered. We were tempted by the Ghirardelli Chocolate Sundaes and the huge bowl of fresh strawberry shortcake, but finally settled on the fresh hand tossed caramel corn. I’ve never had anything like it. So warm and gooey.

  7. Yay for dessert, of course. And darn, this is too good! I want dessert now; autumn’s hitting, so I reckon some crumble is in order, with cream, perhaps? Hmm! One day.

Can I write a cookbook, purely so I can pester you to do all the illustrations? 😉

  8. I’m a few days behind on reading blogs, but I just had to comment on this one because the title and the doodlewash immediately brought back a memory from childhood: we went to a restaurant (which was kind of a big deal then) and my mom told me I could order whatever I wanted for dinner, so I ordered strawberry shortcake. You have confirmed that I was indeed correct: dessert is dinner! And I agree wholeheartedly that chocolate desserts just don’t usually seem to live up to the promise.

    Thanks for another fantastic doodlewash!
