Tried a loose and fast doodlewash of a neighborhood in Paris, France called Montparnasse to see what would happen. This happened. I wasn’t particularly pleased with my sketch but after I splashed some color on it, it started to become a little more interesting. It’s certainly not quite like my other doodlewashes, so it was fun to try something different.
I’m not entirely sure whether I’ve captured the kinetic energy of the scene or if it just looks like a frenzied mess. Either way, it was another fun exercise at least. I’m trying to play with a looser style than my more detailed sketches, but not sure that I’ve quite arrived at it yet. Would love to know your thoughts on this one and any and all suggestions if you have them for future sketches! Please leave me a comment below!

Thanks Eric!! Glad you likey!! 🙂
…me, tooey. It has so much life and liveliness, which freehand produces almost implicitly. No one much cares for a postcard copy of something, or they’d just get a postcard. We want to see things through YOUR eyes, which then become ours as a gift from you to us.
Thanks Lance! Yep…this one was purely through my crazy eyes. And I agree…I love seeing what an artist sees much more than something that looks too realistic. Thanks so much for your comment! 🙂
I think your street scene achieves your goal…it looks busy…hustle-bustle style stree, with the shops and the traffic…the inked lines on the shops buildings make me want to rush! And finish shopping.
Aww thanks so much, Irene! 😃💕 Glad you enjoyed this one!
