Written by Though I, of course, toyed briefly with the idea of drawing my glass of wine for today’s prompt, I decided to go ahead and paint some red grapes instead. Not that I decided to forego the glass of wine this evening, I just sipped on that while painting this. I’m a little lost on time this holiday break and even though the weather is still oddly sunny and warm, I’m starting to get into the holiday mood. When I was about to start painting tonight, I got distracted and we decided to go to World Market to do a bit of shopping before dinner. Each year we each get those little advent calendars with chocolate inside each day. This year, there were upgraded German versions that cost a bit more and we were about to pass until we saw the sign for 50% off. It was meant to be. Since we’ll be going to visit my family in Texas at the end of next week, we won’t be able to start right on the first of the month, but I really look forward to playing catch-up when we return.
Right now I’m enjoying a slice of apple pie that Philippe made for Thanksgiving. This is the last slice so it’s a bit bittersweet. The idea that it’s gone forever, that is, though the flavor is wonderfully more tart than the sugary version I grew up with. I have mine with a scoop of vanilla ice and it’s perfectly delicious. I’m actually typing this between bites, and fully realize that I’m sharing trivia that’s ridiculous and of no real importance whatsoever. But, if anyone is interested in a glimpse behind the scenes of these little posts, that’s one for tonight. The second is that Philippe just informed me that SpongeBob The Musical has opened on Broadway. He’s watching the trailer in the background and it’s quite distracting, and as horrible as you might have guessed. Now, I’ve lost all train of thought and can’t even remember what I’ve painted tonight. Oh yes, grapes. Well, as it turns out, wine goes rather well with apple pie.
I would have to say that the point of this post, if there even is one, is simply about going with the flow. Certainly good advice when it comes to watercolor, but always great advice when it comes to life. Taking each little silly moment as it happens and just being happy that it did is a wonderful way to live. People have asked me how I’m able to post something each and every day. It’s quite simple. I don’t stress about it, or plan it, or try to make a masterpiece in painting or prose. I just show up. It’s that’s stupidly simple. So, yeah, hi! I’m so happy you showed up here as well today to listen to me ramble on and see what I’ve made appear in my sketchbook. Together, we’re just going with the flow, and I hope that even in the most rambling of rambles like this one, you’ll find something to enjoy, even if, in the end, it’s just some red grapes.

Thanks, Sandra! 😃💕 Hehe… oh yes… we actually have a “cheese drawer” in the refrigerator… I think it’s supposed to be a crisper for vegetables, but we mainly eat vegetables so they’re pretty much all over the fridge. lol

Nice grapes! Though I’m a little surprised you didn’t go for the actual glass of wine, it’s reassuring to know there was a real one nearby.
I just googled German advent calendars and got a bit lost – they look amazing! The trend I’m hearing this year (perhaps it’s been the rage for a while?) is a calendar of cheese or cereal rather than chocolate. I like both, but think I’ll stick with the choccy, thanks! 😉
