Written by One of the joys of autumn is that satisfying crunch of leaves under your feet. Of course, the best fun for a kid is taking a dive into a pile of freshly raked leaves. Looking back, I can still remember the feeling of sinking to the center of a giant leaf pile. It was like an instant fort where I was hidden in my own little leafy world. The earthy smell of dry leaves, and often a bit wet, made me feel cozy and comfortable. It was like getting a gentle hug from nature. Of course, climbing out of my fort, I would next see the creator of the pile, rake in hand, looking at me with a face that was far less than joyful. It was totally worth it, though. I couldn’t have imagined the agony I would have felt by passing that perfect pile of leaves. Sometimes in life, when something is calling you, the only thing you can do next is take that leap.
I’m typing faster than ever tonight as we have a friend coming over very shortly and so I need to complete this post in record time. The doodlewash was speedier than ever as well, which is sometimes a really fun thing to do! I hope each of you are about to enjoy a fabulous weekend ahead! It’s a little early here for a pile of leaves, but if you are a fan of autumn or just things relating to it, then you should definitely join us for our Awesome Autumn Challenge in October! Yeah, it’s not the same season everywhere in the world, but the prompts are fun and simple, so jump in and see what comes next! I’m personally trying to focus on food a bit more next month and attempt to create some doodlewashes of the lovely dishes that Philippe creates. The hope is to assemble them into a little cookbook that I can offer for those of you who enjoy doodlewashes and delicious food! With his awesome recipes included, of course.
As the week closes, my dreams are often bigger than my energy levels, and I’m feeling happily exhausted. There are tons of new things happing in Doodlewash Club, so if you haven’t check out the main site News Feed, then you should definitely do so. Lots of wonderful artwork and tutorials are being shared all day long! There are so many things to be thankful for in life, but right now, I’m just so thankful for all of you. Thanks to the hundreds of artists who have jumped into the Club and joined us. I love seeing my vision of a community where everyone, regardless of skill level or method of using watercolor, can come together is a fun place. So many things are coming in the future, so stayed tuned! I’m thrilled about all the exciting things yet to appear and can’t wait to share them with you. In the meantime, I’m rushing off to enjoy a glass of wine and dream of stepping on autumn leaves.

Beautiful painting as always! I don’t know how you can paint and draw something so quickly. For me, the problem with leaves is that I get caught in searching for the one with perfect shape and colors so I can paint it. I bring a bunch of them inside, and then forget about them. Later, I find this pile of chips and dust and wonder where that came from, lol!

In autumn the leaves lying here n there. And when its airy , they singing , and a musical instruments sound comes, lying on leave, close the eyese think n think only the lovely sound of your ❤️ have deep breath.oh gosh am sleeping.heyhey.,😁😁😁🙏

I think I prefer the leaves still attached to the trees, even when they turn into the gorgeous colours like the one in your painting, but I’m well aware of the fact that they need to make way for the new leaves next Spring.

I’m allergic to leaves and leaf molds, sadly, so I had to sit out on the raking and the jumping into leaves as a kid, but I was *all over* doing rubbings of the last ones still on the trees.
Speaking of….I haven’t done that in ages. I may have to try that.

It is completely NOT FAIR that allergies should just pop up after the age of about ten. (I have a random onion allergy that was adult-onset. Like….WHY, body? What purpose does that serve, anyway!?) 😀
