When I saw our prompt of “Sandals,” I realized I’d already sketched some flips flops earlier in the month, so to mix things up, I added a tropical beverage. I love scenes like this that either imply the lucky person is sitting in front of the drink or has abandoned it entirely to run happily into the ocean water. Either way, it’s a glorious time ahead! And there’s a very glorious time coming soon as World Watercolor Month starts in July so I hope everyone who loves watercolor will join us by tagging your watercolors with #WorldWatercolorMonth when you post! There are prompts, but they are super optional, as World Watercolor Month is about coming together to celebrate watercolor each day and support a wonderful cause via The Dreaming Zebra Foundation. By the way, the souvenir shop is open where 100% of proceeds goes to Dreaming Zebra, with limited edition pouches from our 10 Artist Ambassadors, so I hope you’ll check it out! (Store closes at the end of July). There’s much to figure out and organize each year during this time, but I adore it! It’s the most exciting month of watercolor of the year and every bit as thrilling as the best beach vacation, so please join us!

Though yeah, I’m still working on Philippe to plan that actual beach vacation in August or September. I secretly wish that he would just plan it all and surprise me, but after being together this long, I know better than to expect that particular treat. And tonight the weather is mild and the sun is still shining, taking its time before producing a glorious sunset. So, yeah, I’m rather happy sitting just where I am, at the end of my kitchen counter watching the sun say goodnight. I’ve been asked recently where I hope everything I’ve created will go next. That’s such an intriguing question because in my heart I just hope it keeps right on going. I don’t have a pinnacle or peak that I’m heading toward. It’s a steady journey of dedicating time each day to do what I love and loving every moment that I get to spend interacting with all of you who take the time to read my posts. And an extra special sense of glee when I know I’ve inspired someone to sketch and paint each day with me! My entire goal in all of this has been to inspire others to join me in making something daily. That’s all. And it makes me so happy to see people doing just that!

Though sure, I adore each of your daily paintings for quite another reason. I’m about to hit 4 full years of consecutive daily painting and sketching. That’s quite a milestone, and I can honestly say that if you hadn’t joined me, I would never have been able to make it this far. The beautiful paintings and sketches that you post inspire me beyond words and energize me in my own art habit. I can only assume this is true for anyone trying to commit to making something each day. Though we artists can often have a rather independent nature, it’s always nice to know you’re not actually alone on this journey. My goal has been to show everyone that we all share a common bond. The stories from artists that you read here are quite unique, yet always have a similar thread that reminds us of ourselves in some way. That moment when we read something and say, “Yes! That’s exactly how I feel!” These are the very moments this site is all about. So, I hope you enjoy your stay here. It’s not quite like any other place out there, but it’s a wonderful vacation spot when you find yourself interested in taking time to relax.

  1. Oh this would be the place to be after today’s rain ends as we are in for some humid weather up here in New England. I should not complain as summer just started. You’re spot on the beach looks very inviting. I hope you get to go soon. I will in August and I am looking forward to World Watercolor Month. It will be my second one. My watercolor sketchbook is ready to go!

    1. Thanks, Karen! Glad you like this this! 😃💕yay that you’re heading to a beach… I hope to go somewhere fun in August as well! And, that’s awesome on World Watercolor Month! So happy you’re back for seconds! It’s going to be a wonderful month indeed!

  2. I’m still trying to decide which of this year’s WWM bags I want to buy, lol! Decisions, decisions! It’s nice to know that after the excitement of WWM, we’ll get to hear about your vacation travels. Something for all of us to look forward to!

    1. Thanks, Sandra! 😃💕 Yeah… seriously… the bags this year are amazing!! I already bought all of them… I just couldn’t help myself! They’re so pretty! And yeah, vacation travels are happening, but the location keeps changing… tonight we were heading to Quebec again, so it’s a mystery that I’m excited to figure out! lol

  3. Love the fruit on the drink. Like Philippe, my husband never plans trips, though I wish he would. Still, he’s always willing to participate in whatever I plan, and we always have fun.

  4. I discovered something about myself a few years ago. I was the one who always made the plans and really did the work of getting us on vacation. So I finally insisted that he had to do one. Well, I didn’t like that at all! Turns out that under this easy going, cheerful, upbeat personality is a little control freak who needs to be in charge to have a good time. Lol True! So be careful what you wish for, you might get it.

    1. haha! So true, Lisa! 😃💕 I thought of that! For me, it’s not location, but accommodations… hehe… I can be anywhere at all and love it, but when I come home to bed, it needs to be just right. 😉

    1. Thanks so much, Sharon! 😃💕 Yeah, it’s been almost 4 years!! I can’t actually believe it as it still feels like yesterday when I painted with watercolor for the first time. But, now I’ve added memories to go with all the memories and it’s been an amazing journey!

  5. I really like your upbeat, happy WC sketches. The more I looked at the flip-flops, the more I laughed because I “saw” in the drink: a bicycle of fruit slices and a Periscope/straw looking at me! Delightful!
