After a long and exhausting day of travel, I’m now finally back home from Paris. Today’s prompt was “fruit pies” yet I opted for a quick doodlewash of a fruit-topped French pastry instead. I love these, but I always resist the urge to eat one each day that I’m in France. Since they’re so pretty, I’m mostly content to simply look at them through the window as I pass by. And looking is blissfully calorie-free, as is a watercolor version, so that works out much better for my waistline. It was a lovely trip, but it’s so great to be back home once again! I hope all of you are enjoying a lovely weekend!

Though none of my posts are planned and I generally paint and write about whatever comes to mind in the moment, it’s extra difficult on a travel day like this.  I’m so tired. I can’t really complete a thought, and I’m mostly just looking forward to a good night’s sleep back in my own bed. The evening is long because it’s an attempt to stay up until 4am Paris time to get back on the right schedule. And there’s always a bit of a transition. We’re back home, yet it feels like a piece of our heart stayed back in Paris.

Tomorrow, I hope we’ll feel energized and motivated enough to put up a Christmas tree. If we miss this window of time it will have to happen in another two weeks after we’re back from visiting my family in Texas. But like a little kid, I just love seeing our tree lighting up the corner of our home and want to see it up as long as humanly possible. Not so long that the neighbors start to fear for our health, of course, but a little more than a month so we can get the maximum enjoyment. This is my favorite time of year coming up next, so I really just can’t wait to get the end of the year holiday season started!!

  1. Welcome back, for now at least! Ha, my eye thought this was a crown at first. Well, it does look royally tasty, I suppose 😉 I don’t know how you manage to resist – well done on both counts!

I’m sure doing the tree will perk you up, won’t it? It’s Christmassy after all!

  2. Ooh! You have more will-power than I do. I’d have scarfed down a dozen of these Tarte Aux Framboises, if I’d seen them when I was in Paris. Too busy looking at the buildings I guess. I may have to go back just for the chance to eat one of these!
