And so another Doodlewash Adventure comes to a close in May as we bid farewell to a scrumptious month of food and drinks. Thanks again to all the fabulous guests who joined me for the #DoodlewashDinner party with your beautiful doodlewashes! It’s always a bit sad when a delicious dinner ends and there’s just that last little bite before it all becomes a wonderful memory. If you haven’t checked out the feature gallery yet to see all the incredible art people brought to the gathering, then by all means stop listening to my ramblings and click here to go see it!

You may be one of those people who leave that last little bite on the plate. This is something I’ve never personally understood. If you’re that close to finishing something, then why quit? Though I know this bizarre habit is usually only done in a public setting. It’s often a way to proclaim to everyone around you, “See? I’m not an animal. I simply can’t devour that much food” while heading home to snack on something and dream of the bite you left behind. This is not something I would ever do.

Nope, when faced with this last little bite of cake at the end of the party, I will not only devour it, I will use my finger to get every little crumb. I am an animal and proud of it. In my opinion, wasting perfectly good cake would be the true offense. And if that means eating it all up with the reckless abandon of a starving raccoon, then so be it. I pretty much lose all shame when cake is involved. But, I hope you’ve enjoyed all the food and stories this month. And I hope you’ll all join me tomorrow and throughout the month of June as we begin a brand new adventure! As always, you’ll be invited to join along, so stay tuned!

  1. What a beautiful little morsel of cake, a great way to end the month, Charlie. Like you I’m eating every crumb on the plate, lol. Can’t wait to see what’s happening in June.

  2. Another wonderful month of doodlewash adventure with you Charlie O! I’ll devour that last little bite with you in great anticipation of the next course (err) month.. of fun! 🙂

  3. That morsel of cake looks so good if that were me I would be licking the plate!! hehe 🙂 When it comes to cake eating I have no shame. I am looking forward to seeing what June brings. Thanks again Charlie. xx

  4. I’m stuffed but I cannot leave that last bite of cake… 🎂🍴💕 I enjoyed your stories and doodlewashes this month, Charlie! Can’t wait to see what June brings…!! 😊🎨💕

  5. I love cake, but I’ve had some really dry store-bought cakes that even the frosting couldn’t save. LOL. I can’t wait to see what you come up with for June!

    1. Wow…yeah…that’s bad, Kari! Haha! Frosting can save anything! I used to have a coworker who used it to get his kids to eat fish! Ingenious really… anytime people on my team needed to be more innovative I just starting asking, “how could we frost the fish?” 😉 hope you’ll join the next adventure! 😃💕

  6. I’m with you! I never leave anything on my plate. My mom was very frugal and taught me and my sister to not be wasteful especially with food. At home, I even lick my plate at the end. There. Now you know my dark secret! 😆

May I eat that tasty looking doodlewashed bite you left there? 😉❤️

    1. Hehe…I suppose you can have it, but only if you promise to lick the plate! 😉lol That’s awesome, Teresa! 😃💕Yay you! That’s the only way to roll where food is concerned. Unless the food is actually bad…then it’s okay to walk away I guess. I feel like I should share a dark secret back, but I think they’re already scattered throughout my blog! 😊

  7. What a lovely doodlewash to end a treat filled yummy month of paintings. It’s always such fun reading your posts Charlie – and you have a wonderful way of bringing everyone in on it too. Can’t wait for whats around the corner! ^_^

  8. I got stuck on the last bite…the flavor..is it this or that?! By all means I would NOT leave the last bite, completely wasteful, gulp, wonderful! I love the gallery of images too, so fun to see everyone’s contributions! A beautiful display. Looking forward to June’s adventures.

  9. Charlie, thanks for taking us on this food-filled journey through May. We met some awesome talented friends along the way and can’t wait to see what the new month has in store. Happy June!!

  10. I was wondering if there’d be a big cake to celebrate the end of the month – I was sort of right! 😉 Very clever. While I am sometimes guilty of leaving bits of food, it’d certainly never occur with cake!

This transition period is always exciting. Looking forward to seeing what’s up for sleeve for June!

    1. Thanks so much Jacob! Yeah… I ate most of the cake already… sorry for that! 😊 And the transition is always a bit interesting… I feel so invested in the month’s adventure and then poof… new one! Lol Always feel like a stumble a bit as I start something new! Hehe

  11. Thanks for this, Charlie, it was fun, and you got me sploshing real paint around which I haven’t done in almost two hundred years! As for leaving food at the end of a meal – I only do it if I can’t squeeze any more in… and I can squeeze quite a lot in, so that’s saying something!

  12. Delightful painting, makes me want to reach into the computer screen and steal that last tasty morsel…yes, I fully believe that eating cake with the reckless abandon of an animal that appreciates cake…is fun to do…of course in the privacy of one’s home and with the curtains drawn maybe, I would not want people to stare…lol. Thank you for sharing a gallery view of all the wonderful treats brought to your dinner and I look forward to seeing what new and wonderful adventures you have in store for us.

  13. Funny little habit, isn’t it? My mom taught me to always leave something on my plate. I always chose the parsley! And I’d forgotten all about this ritual till you reminded me, so thank you.
BTW, if you aren’t going to finish that cake….?
