Although I started with the prompt of popsicles for today, I ended up back at ice cream, which is probably a sign that I need some soon! We’re not quite half-way through this amazing month of watercolor, and I hope that all of you who have taken on the ultimate challenge of 31 watercolor in 31 days are hanging in there! And I must pause here to thank each of you who have donated to The Dreaming Zebra Foundation. Supporting art education is the heart of World Watercolor Month and the reason I founded it in the first place. Making thousands of watercolors to share with the world (and adding the hashtag #WorldWatercolorMonth, of course!) is an amazing thing, but in my little dream, all of us joining together to make a positive difference in the world for future artists would make this month an even more amazing thing. Yeah, I like to dream BIG! And I sincerely hope that all of you celebrating this most amazing month of watercolor will join me in spreading the word of its charitable intent! So, let’s paint the world with watercolor as we make a child’s dream come true as well!
As a child, I was completely in love with ice cream. Really, any form of it would do. I’m not sure whether it was the sweet taste of the treat or the fact that it was rather rare and I didn’t get it every day, but it was awesome! Today, not much has changed, except a bit lower metabolism that means I can’t quite have it as often as I did back then. And although vanilla is my favorite, I tried a bit with chocolate today. This was my own little challenge as I find it tough to paint something covered in chocolate, so I would normally avoid it. But something about this month makes me want to branch out and experiment. It’s likely the beautiful watercolors posted every couple of minutes by each of you! I’m so incredibly inspired by all the amazing things you’re creating that it makes me want to try new things myself and attempt subjects that I would normally avoid. Many of you have posted and said you’ve just started your watercolor journey, and I’m impressed and amazed by how it’s beginning. Don’t stop now! You’re incredible!
And one of my favorite parts of this month dedicated to giving is the ability to give a little something back to you! Thanks to my amazing official sponsors for the month, I have something wonderful to give to you each and every post in July to celebrate World Watercolor Month! For today, I have a Winsor & Newton watercolour marker sample in a lovely cerulean blue hue for the first 10 people who comment directly on doodlewash.com with “Thank you, Winsor & Newton!” (and haven’t yet gotten a watercolour marker sample!) I so appreciate each and every one of you who has joined in this month’s celebration. Please continue to add the hashtag #WorldWatercolorMonth each time you post. Not only will your lovely work appear in the official global gallery, but you’ll help in spreading the word about the real story behind this month. A month created to celebrate the medium we all love and help those in need. You’re all amazing and I thank you for helping to embrace and promote this charitable cause. We may not be able to reach every child who needs us in the world, but for so many, we can create a better future. One filled with the creativity and joy from the start. It’s a big dream, to be sure, but it’s equally quite simple, like that awesome yet simple thrill of enjoying a lovely summer ice cream treat.

Thanks Charlie! Maybe next time.
I can see not having a smart phone is a huge disadvantage for a “contest” like this one, as I only get messages when I open my boat of a desk top computer, but never mind. I only want to win to donate the gift to Dreaming Zebra Foundation. And so, thank you Winsor and Newton, your products are wonderful. Besides, a bowl of chocolate ice cream is gift enough and better since I can’t eat it ( no calorie dessert – yeah!)
Thanks so much, Sharon!! 😃💕 I’m so glad you liked this! hehe… and yet… it’s all about speed to get to these posts it seems. But you’re too kind. And Winsor & Newton is donating to Dreaming Zebra as well!
What fun to also discover new products. I’d never heard of watercolor markers! Now, I need some ice cream…!
I’ve actually not tried them either! hehe… I’m just giving them away! And yes, to ice cream!! 😃💕
ooh, lovely ice cream painting Charlie, it’s so, so ice-creamy , yum!
Awww thanks, Phil! I’m glad ya liked it! 😃💕These have been speedy this month! hehe
Sometime, I’ll have to tell you about our local ice cream man, and why he’s the reason I rarely eat ice cream anymore.
(Though, now that it’s almost winter, I suppose I’m okay with that….until March/April/Spring….) 😀
haha! I want to hear that story! 😃💕
