Day 31 - World Watercolor Month - A Proud Peacock - Doodlewash

World Watercolor Month – Day 31 – A Proud Peacock

We’ve made it to the final day of World Watercolor Month and I think that each one of you who have participated should feel like a proud peacock at this point. Whether you joined in and completed the ultimate challenge of 31 watercolor in 31 days or whether you simply posted as you could. Together, we’ve filled the world with thousands of beautiful watercolors and we’ve shined a light on this amazing medium. And a sincere thanks to the amazing Official Sponsors who have made this year’s event possible: Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff | Daniel Smith | Da Vinci Paint Co. | Grumbacher | Hahnemühle | M. Graham & Co. | Princeton Artist Brush Co. | Rembrandt | Winsor & Newton . These companies showed real heart by helping us spread the word about this charitable event and raising money for The Dreaming Zebra Foundation. Along with your help, we’ve more than doubled last year’s donations and made so many more dreams of children everywhere come true! I’m humbled and honored to have founded this month and to now host this amazing event each year. You each make my heart smile with your beautiful art. Thank you for the all of the inspiration you create, as we paint the world together each year!

Today’s final prompt was “things with wings”, from my friend Angela Fehr, who I want to thank again for her generosity and support of this event!  And also, I should give a shout out to our friends at Craftsy, who gave us each 50% off on classes once again this year (you can still get the offer by clicking here! It expires on August 2nd) This month, and every aspect of Doodlewash is about bringing people together. My little passion project continues to blossom thanks to the enthusiasm and support of all of you. I founded this month and started this site, not to promote myself, but to promote the medium that stole my heart and all of the artists who I met along the way who inspired me with their shared passion. This isn’t my site. This is our site and a dream that we’re building together. If you haven’t yet, you can log in to Doodlewash via the Login Link in the main menu, and build a profile and gallery right here on Doodlewash! We’re building a social network just for artists that’s highly experimental, to be sure, but sure to be awesome since we’re all making it happen as a community! And, if everything goes according to my crazy ambitious plans, they’ll be a Doodlewash app for us coming this fall!

Thank you all for your passion and support. I’m driven to make this site even better and help each of you promote yourself and realize your dream of simply painting for the love of it or becoming a professional full-time artist. If you follow the Doodlewash Manifesto and simply “DO”… each and every day… your dream will absolutely come true! And I’ll always be here, cheering you on, each and every step of the way. Sure, I’m living vicariously much of the time as many of you have achieved things I still simply dream about. But I’ve never been happier to watch you succeed and thrive! Each story we all share here, is proof that you can do whatever you set out to do. Don’t ever give up. The world is more beautiful when you choose to paint it. And I love you all! But yes, I do have something amazing to give to some of you today.  I’m giving the first 5 artists who haven’t yet received one yet, a Hahnemühle Cézanne, mould-made, 300gsm, Cold-Press, 9.44″x12.59″, 10 sheet block. Just comment below with the phrase “Paint The World Together!” to let me know you want one. And why stop now? Let’s keep on painting together in August and beyond. Join us for next month’s challenge as we show the world that watercolor is the best medium on the planet! And sure, it’s totally okay to feel great about what you make as you post. You deserve to strut your stuff and be a proud peacock!

  1. I had so much fun this month! I earned that 31 watercolors in 31 days mug I bought myself! Maybe in October you could run a world watercolor month redux! I’d do it all over again!

    1. Yay!! That’s so awesome, Lisa!! And thanks so much for supporting The Dreaming Zebra Foundation! 😃💕 And I host monthly challenges all year long for anyone who wants to jump in! So you can make 31 watercolors any month with 31 days! 😉

  2. Just to say thank you once again. It has been a lot of fun. Not just painting but meeting and talking to people from all over the world. You have done a wonderful thing for all of us and it will keep on growing from year to year. The Dreaming Zebra Foundation will be so happy and that really warms my heart. See you on Doodlewash. Celebrate, you deserve it!!!
Love the peacock. Looks so royal.🤗

    1. Thanks so much, Jodi!! You’ve been with me from the start and I LOVE that! (and you as well, of course!❤️) And so you know, I’m out of these samples, but I’m thrilled you got some awesome freebies this month!

  3. I was fortunate enough to receive one of the Hahnemuhle watercolor blocks – what a fabulous prize! This is very special paper. Thank you, Charlie, and thank you, Hahnemuhle.

Your peacock is truly gorgeous – you caught his iridescent plumage perfectly as well as his noble crown.

What a great undertaking, Charlie, with World Watercolor Month – you did something wonderful for the world.

    1. Thanks so much, Sharon! It’s such an amazing and wonderful event! I love it!! 😃💕 And yay! I’m thrilled you’re enjoying the paper. Hahnemühle paper is truly special… I’m completely addicted to their watercolour books!!

  4. Let’s do “paint the world together”. I was not able to join this month because I learned about it a little bit late but this is so nice. More powers to all the watercolorists out there.

  5. Charlie, what a wonderful peacock! Thanks for the last 31 days of painting wonders, and for all the work you’ve put in to make WorldWatercolorMonth such a success! You should be proud. I’m proud of myself, too, for creating a painting each day! Yay! Thank you.

  6. Charlie, you’re the one who should feel most proud! You made this month very special through your hard work in organizing and making the World Of Watercolor Month happen. Thank you for all your efforts!

    1. Aww thanks so much, Sharon! 😃💕 It’s truly my pleasure. And it also feels like a dream come true. I’ve been so passionate about connecting artists and to see everyone come together all at once is humbling and amazing!

  7. Thanks for all you do to make World Watercolor Month happen for us! And for your words of kindness and encouragement along the way. Let’s paint the world together, each and every month! Thanks to all the sponsors for their wonderful donations.

    1. Thanks so much, Terresa! It’s my pleasure and passion to bring us all together!! 😃💕 And yay to the sponsors… they were incredible!! (so you know I’m out of samples for this post, but sending virtual hugs instead!)

  8. You should be proud as a peacock (lovely colors by the way) for you have accomplished this month. It was a great month and I am happy to say I made it all the way through. Now I’m going to see if I can keep it up. 🙂

  9. Beautiful peacock and – oh – your inspiring words make my heart sing. Thanks for all your good work and encouragement.
And thanks to all the sponsours, really great companies.

  10. Another great month of watercolor Charlie! Even though I only managed a few paintings, I enjoyed seeing everyone’s art (including Nina’s) all over WordPress. Good job! (K)

  11. Love today’s peacock! Gorgeous colors! Thank you for all you have done to promote art for the enjoyment of all. It’s especially heartwarming to know you are leading this effort to make children aware and giving them the opportunity to be part of the art world.

    1. I can’t think of better reason to come together and paint! If we don’t help our future artists grow and thrive there would be little point to it all, so I’m thrilled to make the month a charitable event! So happy you enjoy it!! 😃💕

  12. Congratulations and well done! What a wonderful month it’s been! I have especially enjoyed seeing your daily doodlewashes. You get such wonderful color and light. They just draw me in and really inspire me. Thanks so much!

  13. If ever you needed reminding that you are an inspiration all over the world, Charles! <3 Awesome job once again. That's one proud peacock, and no surprise with such beautiful colours! And here's to another month of fun – I look forward to favourite body part…

    1. Thanks so much, Jacob!! 😃💕 It’s been such a fun month, but soooo busy!! And LOL… yeah, the body part one is intriguing. It makes me giggle like a little boy each time I see it, but last year I just painted eyes. 😊
