World Watercolor Month – Day 9 – Sweet Dreams

So, when I saw the official prompt for the month of “summer tunes” today, my mind went to “Sweet Dreams” by the Eurythmics. This, of course, made me think of dessert. I chose a rather festive looking dessert because I love the article in the current issue of Watercolor Artist magazine titled “31 Days of Watercolor” which described this Doodlewash-hosted event of World Watercolor Month as “Christmas in July”! It totally is! It was such a wonderful way to describe our amazing global celebration of watercolor. And it’s certainly been a blast giving away awesome gifts to many of you who read this full post every day this month. Thanks to our amazing official sponsors, I have lots more to give to you all month long, and in return I only ask that you make a donation to what the heart of this month was created for in the first place. I founded this month in the spirit of giving, but I truly founded it in the spirit of giving back. In all the excitement of World Watercolor Month, I hope you’ll take a moment to honor the charitable cause of helping underprivileged kids get the art supplies they need by donating to The Dreaming Zebra Foundation. And make a child’s dream come true!

I’m just one guy who had a great idea to create a month-long celebration of watercolor, but I really can’t do this alone. I’m asking all of you, my wonderful artist friends, to help me by continuing to spread the word about this month and link back to the official page on this site. Helping our future artists is my passion and I need you to help me spread the word in a way that preserves the true nature of this event. I realize, World Watercolor Month, seems rather well-known at this point, but what’s not well-known is the charitable nature of the event. For that, I truly need your help in spreading the word so that together, we can make more than hashtags, but truly make a difference in the world. I don’t want the core idea of this event to be lost in the enthusiasm for the concept. It may just be my inner child dreaming again, but I had a dream that we, as artists, can make a difference in the world when we come together to affect positive change! This is the month I made for us!

And, tonight, as I’m trying to get that awful earworm of a Eurythmics song out of my head to complete this post, I once again have something special for all of you who read my posts until the very end. For today, I have another 10 American Journey Artists’ Watercolor Nomad Tins for anyone who hasn’t yet received one! Just let me know you’d like one by commenting below with “Let’s Make A Difference!” And let’s keep creating all of those beautiful watercolors being produced every minute to celebrate this most amazing medium and month! And for my loyal readers, you can be the first to enter the new Da Vinci giveaway that just went live as well (this one is US and Canada only). Click here to enter!! I hope each of you continue to paint each day and share both your love of watercolor and the beauty you produce with it with the rest of the world (and add the hashtag #WorldWatercolorMonth of course!). Your commitment and enthusiasm creates a beautiful tapestry of color and joy that makes the world smile more. It needs it. And by coming together as one, we can create a force that can deliver a million sweet dreams.

  1. “Let’s Make A Difference!” and I did make a donation, I hope it helps! Also, thank you so much for planting that song in my head, I’m sure to thank you over and over tonight as I try to go to sleep….lol
Sweet dreams are made of this
    Who am I to disagree?
    I travel the world
    And the seven seas,
    Everybody’s looking for something.

  2. “Let’s Make A Difference”…I’ll be donating 😉 and purchasing a piece of art from a relatively new watercolor artist…plus randomly handing out some of my papercraft art to brighten people’s day ;-)…and maybe just maybe painting/posting my first Doodlewash 😉

  3. Let’s make a difference…. I bought a tote bag and plan to buy matching pouches… Other than that I share my paintings with anyone that will take them 😄

And once again your dessert looks seriously yummy… Too bad I can’t bake to save my life.

    1. Yes you did! Hope you enjoy it June! 😃💕 hehe… my bakery would be run by my partner, Philippe who is the only one is the household who can actually cook. Myself and the dog are rubbish at it. Although I’m not entirely sure the dog has actually tried, which is probably a good thing.

  4. Let’s Make a Difference! I had heard of World Watercolor Month before but didn’t know it had such charitable roots. I plan to donate, and thanks so much for your and the sponsors’ generosity!

    1. Yeah, I’m starting to realize that a great idea can quickly lose its core intent in all the enthusiasm! Thanks so much for making a donation, Crystal!! 😃💕(and you already have one of these coming to you! yay! hehe)

  5. I’m getting a tin, too. That painting looks delicious! Is this based on a real dessert? What are the little round red berries? The others look like blackberries. I can’t decide if I want to start painting or start eating!

  6. How wonderful that Doodlewash promotes Dreaming Zebra Foundation to support little artists everywhere. I’ve worked with children whose little bodies slowly relax the more they delve into an painting or craft project. I’ve seen kids who never believed they could anything create something beautiful. And best, I’ve watched as a child discovers for the first time that they are capable of completing a challenging project they didn’t believe they could do. I will be making a donation soon. Thanks, Charlie, for promoting such a worthy endeavor.

  7. As yummy as ever.gy when ever u asked about donation.yes of course z.f.kids. i feel what can i do for them haveing no kids I really.. want to do but i am help less ,so that feal more alone in this world. I am giving my love n last breath of my life to dd w. Z f kids. Thanks lu
