Today is my birthday and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate it than with my favorite childhood dessert! Well, for now a super quick doodlewash of it! Yep, it’s time to celebrate Peach Cobbler Day, that fruity masterpiece that consists of throwing some buttered batter at some fruit and baking it until golden brown. It was invented in America by English settlers who were really hoping to make a little suet pudding, but didn’t have the suitable ingredients or the proper cookware. In their desperation, they opted to cobble something together by throwing some uncooked biscuits on their stew and the American cobbler was born.
I could have opted for Thomas Jefferson Day today, as he and I share a birthday. Because of this fact, I used to get $2 bills as a present each year. That wasn’t the only present, of course, as that would have been a bit sad, but it was a traditional gift and since that denomination is so rarely used here, it always felt special. But, apologies to Tom, the best and most memorable part of my birthday month was getting some peach cobbler. Oh sure, it appeared at various family gatherings in many forms, but the peach one my mom made just for me always tasted the best.
Even if it does contain peaches, it’s not a remotely healthy dessert. In fact, it’s basically the equivalent of eating some fruit in syrup, while licking a bowlful of cake batter, all while chewing on a stick of butter. See? The point is, you couldn’t possibly do all of these amazingly fabulous things at once, so that’s exactly what makes the cobbler so magical! Add a little vanilla ice cream and you’ve just hit nirvana. And this is exactly how I intend to end my birthday tonight. Getting a year older was a lot more fun when I was a kid, but eating peach cobbler is at least one thing that will never grow old.
Join me any and all days you like during April by celebrating a National or International Day with a doodlewash! Tag your image #doodlewashaday and I’ll feature everyone who played along on doodlewash.com at the end of the month!

Happy Birthday, Charlie! Hope it is the best ever. I had a peach-infused beer at dinner so in retrospect I feel like I got to help you celebrate. However, I am sure the cobbler was better. Enjoy!

Happy Happy Birthday…I hope you are eating peach cobbler. I would like to express my thanks to you and your blog for introducing me to so many creative people. However, you are on top of that list. Have a great day!!
I did have peach cobbler…with ice cream of course and it was delicious!! Thanks so much, Carmel!! Meeting artists like you is what makes this journey so wonderful! 😍😃
This is a new one on me, Charlie, but it sounds absolutely marvellous! You really can’t go wrong with peaches. Why, even the dreaded ice cream doesn’t sound bad in these surroundings! 😉 That’s sweet about the dollar bills, too – fancy sharing a birthday with Jefferson. I share mine with Justin Timberlake and Johnny Rotten… what esteemed company!
I hope you’re having fun and very much enjoying this hugely tempting treat! Enjoy the rest of your birthday!
Yeah…there’s no Justin Timberlake currency….yet!! Lol And you really must try peach cobbler…add it to the list and force yourself to try it with ice cream. You won’t regret it! It was a marvelous day…wonderful weather, sweet treats, and great gifts. Best birthday that an “old man” could ever ask for! 😊hehe
Great stuff! And oh, you’re no old man Charlie!
awww… thanks Jacob! 😃

Happy Birthday, Charlie!!! 🎉💕🎂 You were just talking about how much weight you could gain from all the food you’ve been doodlewashing!! Lol. I hope you’ve had a terrific birthday! And I love peach cobbler!!
Thanks Kari!! 😃💕 I think I need to start doodlewashing these from memory instead of trying them all. But today was my birthday so I get a free pass to be decadent! lol
Smiles as usual, not to mention mouth-watering. Hope you have the best birthday ever! (K)
Awww thanks Kerfe!! 😃💕For those and all the kind words you’ve given me. Much appreciated my friend!! It’s been a wonderful birthday!!
That’s what I like to hear!
Happy Birthday to the greatest Doodlewasher in the world – the guy who started it all.
Of course fruit and all, no shoe or boot repair considered on ones birthday! Oh yummy. Enjoy how decadent. 🙂
Lol…I loved your boot repair interpretation!! Thanks for celebrating my birthday with me this month, Susan!! Love it!! 😃💕
Your peach cobbler looks yummy, Charlie! 🎨💕 There is nothing like fresh peaches! 🍑💜🍑 I hope your birthday cobbler was as sweet as you are, my friend!! 😍🌟🌈
Awww you made me blush!! 😊 Or that was the sugar butter high from all the cobbler I ate and the wine. Either way…thanks so much Jill!! You’re a wonderful friend!! 😃💕💕
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Charlie, my fellow Aries (a week ago today I turned 40 whether I like it or not). Thank you for introducing me to so many amazing artists. My blog feed is now simply bursting at the seams with ’em, and that’s a good thing–they enrich my life.
Ahhh, peach cobbler… I grew up off-road camping with my family in the deserts and mountains of Utah and its surrounding states. One night every outing my mom would make peach cobbler in a dutch oven over briquettes, and we would savor it sitting before a crackling campfire. That’s what I think of when I think of peach cobbler. 🙂
Awww thanks Ry!! Thrilled you like the fabulous artists featured here! And thanks for the birthday wishes. It was truly an amazing day…but any day with peach cobbler is that really. Your story is awesome! Such a fantastic memory! Love that! 😃
Sounds Good
It’s was indeed! Hehe

Thanks so much, Rebecca! That’s a wonderful wish! hehe 😃💕
Happy Birthday Charlie, your food art is so awesome. An how wonderful to have your bday on PCD. The Las Vegas lights are shining bright for you!
I’d always wanted to know what peach cobbler was and now I do. I think it’s unknown in th UK and it deserves to be exported! Your drawing is delicious and I know the cobbler will be too. Happy Birthday!
It should be exported! That said… it’s crazy easy to make. So much so even I could probably pull it off and I’m a deplorable cook! Thanks so much my friend!! 😃💕
Happy birthday from me too, keep on having a good time!
Awww… thanks Birgit!😃💕 I intend to! All year and all life long! hehe
Happy Belated Birthday! What a treat to get Peach Cobbler in April! My daughter would always ask for Cherry Pie for her birthday instead of cake. Cherries weren’t in season for birthday either, but I managed with canned, or frozen cherries. 🙂
Thanks so much my friend!! I appreciate it!😃💕 Yum… cherry pie is awesome too. Actually all fruit desserts are pretty amazing. I’m not too picky! hehe
Happy belated birthday Charlie O’. I will NEVER EVER forget your b’day as it’s the same day as my brother’s birthday.
Don’t know how old you are but feel free to borrow my birthday SEASON celebration rules. Peach cobbler is a good start.

Read rule #6
I’m an equal-age-ruler.

Happy belated birthday Charlie :-)!!! Glad you had a awesome day. And thank you for sharing your dessert with us. It looks delicious. And reminds me that peach season is almost here… and then I’ll make cobbler!
Thanks Myriam!! 😃💕Yes!! Do it!! Cobbler is sooooo good. We finished the rest of it tonight and Philippe is going to make a gooseberry cobbler tomorrow. Then we’ll start the diet… 😊 hehe
Gooseberry cobbler sounds tasty! I like your cobbler inclusive diet :-).
Lol.. so glad you approve! The gooseberry was awesome as well. 😊hehe
